HPL NoVII 5w-30, will my ‘18 4Runner like it?

Getting ready for the 4th July HPL sale…

Currently running Amsoil 0w-30 sig.series in the 1GR-FE in the T4R.
Looking to make the move to HPL and favoring the NoVII 5w-30 from the specs. especially the HTHS of 3.399.
2nd choice would be maybe the PPPCMO in 5w-30. I am not seeking a Euro oil formulation.

I do 2 year oil change intervals. My usage will be increasing to about 6000 miles over 2 years.

I know I can use any off the shelf oil and the engine will outlive me, but seeking, quiet and smooth, minimal leaks and minimal wear as the engine ages.

Will my engine favor this oil? I know it will do well in the heat, but will it like temps down to 5 degrees F.

Some of this decision is to support HPL, as I believe in their efforts to build the best product and their support to bitog members.

HPL is also going in the driveline as needed.

Your engine will like the No VII 5W-30. That's likely the most robust, shear stable 5W-30 on the market. It'll do well for the 2 year interval, and be fine in single digit temps in the winter.

Just seems odd to me to run an Euro oil in a car spec'd for a API oil and I may end up running this in other vehicles as well that call for a Dexos1gen3 oil.

Also, was looking at HPL SuperCar 0w-30, but is SL rated. Not looking at shortening the life of the catalytic convertors.

Since this question and decision and background is purely emotional, you can do whatever you like. "Euro" oils are just fine.

If the car is not burning copious (read: quarts plus) amounts of oil, the converter will suffer zero harm from running a Euro add pack.

This seems to be one of the biggest mysteries.

Not the case I'd think about using a no-VII - I think about turbos etc. stressing an oils' VIIs. The Toyota V6 is about as tame of a powerplant as they come. Why not PCMO? I think most using the no-VII stuff do so to say they use it

I’ve used the 5w30 no VII in my Camry 2.5 and 8750/7k generator. It held up well in both situations, but the generator was likely much harder on the oil than the Camry. Viscosity was 9.4 @100c after 73 continuous hours, TBN was 10.8, and fuel dilution was 1.5% at time of sampling.

The PCMO uses a good shear stable VM so I'd probably opt for the PCMO 5w30.

I've run every make and brand in my old 4Runner and settled on M1 Euro 0w-40. It's so good I'm moving everything to it. Use API oil if you want mediocre. Use ACEA if you want the best for a comparable price.
