HPL honda 10 speed recommendation

And this is the PMXA trans?

This is not a ZF transmission it's Honda designed (10 speed).

Amsoil says Type 3.0; Honda 2.0 use ATL (blue)
Amsoil says Honda 2.0 use ATF (red)

What exactly does your owner's manual say?
That's why it's confusing. Amsoil says both ATF's are compatible.

Yes - pmxa transmission for yr 2023 odyssey

Manual calls for type 2 fluid

Amsoil red top ATF per the “vehicle selector” website tool.

Since it's almost time for another fluid service on these transmissions, I thought I'd bump this thread. HPL doesn't have a formal recommendation (quick responses from them btw - thanks hpl!). Honda hasn't released specs or add packs for its 2.0 fluid which proves problematic IMO. True to form, Amsoil has now switched their fluid recommendation to the "blue top" transmission fluid variant for the vans with this 10 speed transmission since my last service which isn't exactly reassuring as an end user for potential warranty issues. The van is running fine, it just starts to allow for "what ifs" to start mentally creeping their way in.

BITOG'ers, what fluid would you recommend? The blue top current Amsoil recommended fluid? Something off the books from HPL (looking at you, green!)? Honda type 2.0?

If Honda type 2.0, where is a good place to order from that won't gouge and has good customer service? TIA.

What is your service interval (time vs distance)? Are you pulling the pan & magnets for cleaning / inspection (does it even have a pan)?

no pan to pull (think clamshell construction for the body).

The Honda "people" will tell you to not do anything the maintenance minder doesn't tell you to do. I prefer to do things early vs late and therefore don't wait for the computer to tell me I should change my oil every 10k. With that said, the manual isn't exactly helpful with intervals aside from "follow maintenance minder."

Any fluid rec's?

HPL Green CC closely matches the viscosities of modern LV fluids. Its worked fantastic in my 2016 MB GL450 (7g-tronic) and my mother’s 21 Honda Pilot.

We had a 2019 Odyssey Elite and I did a spill and fill with Amsoil ATL. Shifted more sure and smooth.

Weren't you using Amsoil as in this thread?

Did some digging on the 10 speed / Type 2.0 and I don't see anything special about its requirements. You seem to be aware of the poor OEM maintenance schedule so I think you'll fine.

A quality, clean multi-ATF is what I would use. If I had money to spend I'd get Amsoil ATL ATF (Fuel Efficient, AKA medium, 6cSt). For my money I'd get Valvoline MaxLife or Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF but it really depends on what your availability and priorities are.

I would also see about pulling the filter that's behind the warmer for inspection. If there's no magnets in there I would add one depending on space available.

I am. Unfortunately, you have to wade through several pages to confirm Amsoil used to recommend their red top transmission fluid for this 10 speed when I was doing a 10k break in drain and fill (which I used uneventfully so far), and now recommend the blue top. Why the change? Good question as I'm not Amsoil.

This would be cool for sure. No way in h#ll I'm fitting my ape hands into the space that's there to be able to remove all the coolant lines, etc needed to get to that sucker. I had a prior gen odyssey with an in-line type filter and I did change that one at 100k. I will not be doing that for this transmission. It seems like most OEM's do not want you to service your own stuff anymore.
