How to lubricate door hinges

Agreed, this sounds like an excellent use for Mobil 2 or Schaeffer 10000 (in my case).

I've used MMO on my cars and it works great. Put a few drops on then open and close the door a few times. Keep doing that until it feels like it's supposed to. Then wipe any excess away with a paper towel.

I use Amsoil MP, but I might try the 3 in 1 oil or maybe MMO idea. I like something on the lighter side for penetration.

Outlets that specialize in euro parts, particularly for the German marques, will probably carry Wurth, as well as some repair shops. They make good stuff, but their distribution isn't the best, however.

I've always used a few drops of engine oil on door hinges.

This is an excellent use for all those orphan quarts of atf, or old oil you have 1/4th quart of and can't use anymore because you traded the vehicle etc. Simply buy a squirt can at the local hardware and away you go.

You could try disassembling it if you were really obsessed with these hinges. I probably would if it was making an annoying sound. Nothings painted shut, hit it with your impact wrench and it will break the paint. Everything comes apart on this car, or else you couldn't replace the door.

I just did this exact job tonight, it was messy. My 2 rear doors were making an annoying sound, they were never lubed for 16 yrs. I first blew all the old crud out with my engine cleaning gun hooked up to the air supply, and blasted it with paint thinner to get the old grease out. Then dried them with the blow gun. Old grease particles that were dried up into crust were flying everywhere. COVER THE INSIDE OPENING TO THE CABIN WITH SOMETHING OR YOU'LL BLOW ALL THE CRUD INTO THE CABIN. Then globbed on synthetic MP LB-GC grease with a paint brush...just globbed the whole area.

Cover the whole area with grease so you won't have to worry about the rain thing you speak of. It may look gross, but who cares, they are door hinges and you'll probably never have to do it again if you GLOB it in there.
