How to Change a Panamera Air Filter

Manufactures purposely make simple tasks more difficult because it pads their bottom line. If you were able to do this on your own you would save, easily north of $500 USD, that's a loss of revenue for the dealership/company.

Besides if you have the cash to lease/buy one of these, then maintenance is should not be an issue. That being said, cars in which you can work on, on your own, with low to moderate levels of difficulty cannot be beat.

Devil's advocate, but where else would you place it? Between styling, low hoodline, all the 'stuff' around a current engine, the pedestrian safety hood crush space requirements, size of the air filter for that engine, there are not many options.
It is basically a CAI-just put the filter up front on the inlet. If you can afford the car…

Moron. All he had to do was shoot a hole in the hood and open it up with sheet metal cutters and pvc pipe the intake to the 350 chevy round air filter box. It'd make it look better too.

I was going to suggest a sleek hood scoop like maybe this Ferrari’s, but your idea is cooler.

We service a few Panameras and the 1st time I saw that filter setup I was like WTH! We had to pull the front bumper off of one last month due to leaking headlight washer nozzles so naturally we changed the filter while we were in there as a free labor service. The filter is so large that I am sure 50k miles is very doable. This car had around 40k miles on the air filter when we changed it last and it was dusty/dirty but not clogged and was technically probably still ok to go some more. I think Porsche really did a terrible job with the filter system but give them credit on atleast using a huge filter to extend service intervals somewhat. There is plenty of room under the hood on the 3.6 models for an air filter but the turbos are a little tighter.
