What's our favorite air filter now?

I favor Premium Guard now, usually on Amazon.
Be careful buying oil filters from Amazon or other online sources. Counterfeiting oil filters seems to have become quite prevalent.

Premium Guard EX, Carquest Premium (Advanced Auto Parts), and MicroGard Select (O'Reilly's) are all made by PGI and their construction are similar if not identical.

I've been happy with STP. My last filter was a regular STP, and I just changed it out again and trying to premium STP. Only about $3 difference, and I was curious. Probably go back to the standard STP next change.

But the build quality seems good. Good fit. Engine seems to run well with it. Pics of my old vs new STP here:

Ok ya got my attention. I have a 2025 Nissan Frontier. VQ38DD. The OME filter cost $ 39.99 . Yeah Nissan’s name is on the box. lol. Point me in a direction with two makes you would consider replacing the OME with. Thank you.
Denso is now my choice, after ordering a bunch of different ones. Its a tight fit. I am not familiar with the new airbox so it might be different than mine.

I had been using Wix but they took away the metal backing mesh - which for me is unacceptable.

Fram Titanium looked OK too, but Fram is no more.

Here is the Mahle that failed.

You might also consider a Donaldson P606062. I just bought one for my 25 Frontier, but have not installed it yet as my factory filter only has 18k on it and the restriction gauge I installed has barely moved.

It is rather pricy. However, Donaldson claims 99.9% efficiency per ISO 5011, where the next best claimed efficiency of another filter is the Fram Titanium at 99%.

Thanks, I'll save the number. I have several filters ready to go so won't need any for a while. Is the new truck the same element as the old trucks?

Factory is nice, but I often save with Amazon whatever "name" brand.
I've been buying them for my Jeeps from different Amazon vendors for awhile. They have all looked, felt, and even smelled just like Mopar filters, leading me to think they are either a really good copy or come right out of the same factory. Even the runs/drips/errors in the glue are very similar.

I've also bought AC Delco, which seem very similar, and STP. The one that is different is the Fram Ultra. I think I like them the best.

The cheap Amazon filters also come out as they should, with the filter element very dirty on the side flowing in and very clean...like new, on the engine side. I've also never had a spike in silicon on a UOA, even after a couple of off-road trips out west where I spent significant time in clouds of dust behind other Jeeps.

I was curious about Donaldson air filters and for some reason can't find much on them. Seems if I do a cross reference on their website it doesn't give me a match for theirs. I watched the video from LSJ where he went to Donaldson and it was an interesting video and on the difference of air vs oil filters.

MicroGard Select is a nicely built air filter.

Doing primarily euro stuff - Mann, hengst, mahle was my first grab. However been using a LOT of parts plus/premium guard ones lately. Local supplier has them in stock, they are cheap, and now that I have a lube/maint tech im doing a lot more air filters + waiter services.

I've used Fram, STP, OEM and Bosch in my wife's car and my truck with no issues.

Amazon still had some Fram filters for my wife's Murano for 8 bucks so I stocked a few of them back for future changes. I've got a couple of K&N single use filters for my F250 on hand as well.
