How much is it worth? wife's car..

So we're looking to sell wife's car, preferably private party. I know there are websites that one can use to get an idea, but some of them don't have very specific details, so I thought i'd ask here what you guys think will be a fair price to ask for her car.
(If one knows a good site to do this, that I may not know, pls feel free to mention those too):

DETAILS

2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS
Auto
205 k miles
Body is ding-free, and straight
Only 1 repair to date (radiator replaced)
1 accident (deer-side impact) - repaired. air bags never went off.
All records of maintenance available (95% of work done at dealer)
All reccomended maint. done, and still being done.
Engine, Transmission in good mechanical condition
Still a dependable DD

color: Black

WHAT IT HAS:
cloth seats - clean interior
power mirrors/door locks/windows
heated mirrors
Manual climate control: AC/heater/defroster work great
front and side air bags
tilt steering wheel
OE cassette/radio replaced with Pioneer single CD/mp3/radio unit (with remote)
spare tire
15" OEM steel wheels
Front Disc and rear Drum brakes
General Altimax tires with about 25k miles on them
NO KEYLESS ENTRY
NO CRUISE CONTROL

THE BAD:
--Clearcoat is pealing in patches on hood and roof and trunk (probably needs a repaint)
--one 5 inch crack on the top-middle of dash (not deep - on surface) and 1 similar 3 inch crack on the right of dash (also on surface) - this doesn't cause any noises/creaks - purely cosmetic at this point.
--One steel wheel is 'out of round' and tires make a thumping noise (Going to need a new wheel), and the out of round wheel causes a vibration at certain speeds
--Will need CV boots soon (Joints are still ok - no noises)
--Very rarely the driver's door lock won't lock the other doors. Wiggling it a few times will do it.
--paint on wheel covers is pealing/worn off.

That's a car for which I'd pay $2,500 tops. Over 200,000 miles will scare many off, and although the vibration may be a simple fix, it won't "show" well on a test drive. Sometimes the cumulative effect on stuff like that is greater than the individual problems themselves.

People will probably see an easy $1,500 in repairs right off the bat...maybe a re-spray, a new wheel or two, CV shafts, etc.

Just a WAG...I'd replace the out of round wheel and have it detailed. $2500-3000 should make an easy sale.

It all dependings on the overall condition.

Pull up KBB, put in all your info, and rate your car based on condition. Put it up on Craigslist asking $700 more then its worth (say KKB says its worth $1,000 in "fair condition", ask $1,700 and hope for the best.)

The deer accident is definitely your biggest minus. All the other little things wrong aren't that big of a deal.

does everyone agree that we should just replace that one wheel and tire which will make it easier to sell? (I know with about 95% certainty that as soon as that wheel/tire is replaced the car will drive smooth and noise-free)

just FYI - the deer accident just dinged the driver's side door a bit and damaged the SV mirror. The deer just walked off.

use Nada, KBB, and edmonds.. Kbb is most popular in my area..

with that said, you aftermarket stereo is not a upgrade, most dealers prefer bone stock autos, PP it depends on who's looking.. if some teen is checking out your car the aftermarket stereo is a bonus..

otherwise take the three above mentioned sources, and get the "fair value" becouse your car is not exelent, its not even good (clear coat is peeling off)
so that makes it fair condition. so get the three values, and average it out.. or just choose one (your call) once you have your "book value" bump it up a little as someones going to offer you less than you ask..

example: book is say $3000 you ask $3,500 OBO
dont over ask.. then youl generate no interest.

when listing make sure you put it out there that you have a great service record.. thats a good selling point.

I think that $2400 puts it at a better price point. Also, you will want to leave a little wiggle room to haggle on the price.

Yes, I am aware of that - I didn't mean it as an upgrade; I was just giving the details.
The OE Hyundai stereo is also available in great condition

According to Edmunds TMV, it's worth $850 (private party sale), assuming average condition. $1700 if 'clean' condition. You're likely to sell it for somewhere in-between these values.

Do you have a carmax near you? See what they would offer you for it. Also, don't completely dismiss the trade-in idea. Sometimes a dealer can give you a decent allowance if you're buying a new car from them at the same time.

Tire/Wheel: YES. Turn it around...you test drive a used vehicle and it vibrates/thumps on the highway. The owner says it's "only a bent wheel"...but what do you think?

$2000, maybe up to $3000 to the right buyer.

Yes. The vibration is costing you more in value than the wheel and maybe tire will cost in price.

If selling on Craigslist, I'd list at $2,500, prepared to take $2,000. I sold my '97 Dodge Dakota on Craigslist a few years ago. I severely underestimated its value. It was 2WD, manual windows, with 178,000 miles. I posted it for $2,500 and sold it to a solider with a sob story for $2,300 thirty minutes later. I still see it on post every now and again, so I know it went to a good home.

+1 Quattro Pete's evaluation

It has few things going against it

1) 200K+
2) Peeling clear-coat
3) Needing a wheel
4) Needing CV joint
5) Huyndai name

Even an Accord or Camry in similar condition would have trouble fetching north of $2500. I think you will end up getting somewhere between $1000 and $1500. The paint problem really changes the equation as it is pretty much impossible to get it corrected (correctly) without putting lots and lots of money. Also most other makes would not have had a problem with the paint at this age.

if you dress it up abit.. i'd say 2000$ range

I know someone who uses one of those for courier service she has 440k miles on it now.

looks like OEM wheel is about $55 online....
Will try to see if there are any junkyard options nearby...
(but even those are 'used' - in this case especially, I would like to make sure that the wheel is new / round - so might just buy new..)

I'd ask $1000, and hope to get more than the $400 a junkyard offers. It's an old Huyndai with over 200K miles on it....

You must be happy if you can sell it above $2k. A decent paint job will cost the buyer about $1,200 at least on my area. If it's a civic (with same condition), you can easily sell it for $3k or a bit more.

Carmax would not retail it so they would look at these auction sales (if they would even get involved on a 200k car)
Avg is usually pretty good shape

list it for $2500, expect a wide range of offers, take anything above $1500.

my also practical CL advise, list it on a saturday or sunday morning, and put in your cell phone number. budget the entire day for showings/appointments. it WILL sell.
