Rating:

Fuel economy
: Averaging 25 mpg city/hwy and 29 hwy.. right on target. 10/10.

Engine Performance: With 271 HP and VCM (3/4/6 cylinder management) it is extremely powerful and yet can deliver 29 mpg on the hwy. Also, traction control and stability management are awesome. No torque steering here.

Transmission: Direct shifts and downhill will down shift with a special program. Would have liked a 6 speed...9/10

Navigation System: Awesome. 10/10

Leather seating surfaces: Mediocre quality leather...nice but not what you might see in a Porsche'
wink.gif
9/10

Performance: Corners like a Porsche' Cayman and I have driven a few. Perfectly tuned suspension and wide Michelin performance tires work well. The car is like a go-cart...exciting and lot's of fun. The best reason of all to buy it. It feels a bit like a BMW 335i but for way less $$. 10/10

Sound system: 7 speaker with sub woofer. Sounds great...add 2 Pioneer Tri axial speakers to the rear for $ 100.00 and it is up their with a Bose system easily.

Overall this vehicle is dependable/powerful/sporty well mannered handling/very well appointed and balanced in all respects. It's still the one to beat in the mid-sized car segment I feel.

Also, Honda lease event was 0 down/0 first payment/0 acquisition fee/0 anything for 36 months with 12,000 miles/yr.

$ 399.00/mos

4-cylinder with same options was $ 299.00/mos.

Oil?

-Will run factory fill 5,000 miles.

-Then free oil change at dealership with Kendall 5W-20.

-5W-20 Castrol conventional every 5,000 after that or just watch the oil minder.

-Rotate tires every 10,000 miles.

Done

"mediocre" leather still gets a 9/10?

Glad you like the car. Good luck with it. Hope the honeymoon lasts for the entire ownership period!

Vehicle/tax/lic....$ 33,823.90 purchase price.

Thought about a BMW 328i but it was $ 10,000 more. Not looking back..

9/10 because the interior smells like an Italian shoe factory...I like that!

This is our 11th Honda/Acura..Honeymoon has lasted since 1980. Every time a lease expires.. I look and look and buy another Honda.

They are fun..the engines are amazing...and have never taken one into the shop for anything but oil changes and tire rotations. Reliability beyond reproach.

271 HP in this car really lights it up and taking ramps at 100 mph...well I would think it can be done. :) Top speed is governor limited...130 mph. Can be ECM tuned for another 30 HP and unlimited it would yield a theoretical top speed of 165 mph. Would not do it with VCM personally...but if ya did it would run with a BMW 328i. Best thing would be to get the Coupe as the engine is non VCM and puts out 295 HP...and get the 6-speed stick..this would run with a BMW 335i..too lazy to shift in my old age. So they will blow my doors off as I listen to my stereo and enjoy the ride.

Impressive in that it has a lot of German in it for a [censored] car.

Youre not going to get out of the honeymoon on any car if youre leasing and then returning at 36k or so... more or less does not matter what car it is.

I highly doubt the coupe would keep with a 335i. The 335 puts out all its torque at 12-1300 RPM. No need to wind up to 7000 before power is coming. Different dynamics and different vehicle.

I think its fair to say that the 2010 Accord approaches BMW quality, maybe even surpasses it.

Leasing cars? Since 1980?

I guess there really is one born every minute. Leasing has to be the dumbest financial strategy I've ever seen.

If you ever want to become wealthy, try pouring money into assets that actually go UP in value, rather than perpetually making car/lease payments.

I think the Chevy Malibu even surpasses BMW quality. BMWs are nice driver's cars but they're are not a very good value at all. They're not really about value and quality, but performance and prestige imo.

Nice car you got with the Accord. It's not exactly cheap but it is a lot of car for the money.

Congrats on your purchase, but the Accord doesn't do it for me.

The seats are too hard and there is too much road noise.

The engine isn't class leading. It needs a valve adjustment and a timing belt every 105k. And the power is lacking-- off the line, the torque is not very strong. My mom's 2010 Altima with the VQ35 engine has an incredible amount of torque below 2000 rpm. During normal driving, I rarely need to exceed 2200 rpm.

But to Honda's credit, the aesthetics of the cabin are far superior to the Altima or Camry.

A base model 3-series w/all-seasons handles incredibly well. An Accord doesn't even come close. Even a G37S with summer rubber doesn't equal the BMW's capabilities.

I sort of agree with your assessment of the Accord. The car rides noisy and is not particularly comfortable for such a roomy car. But other than that you do get a lot of features and quality for the money with the Accord.

I conceded that the BMW is a better driver's car, but I think it's handling is overrated and subjective. If one looked up the skidpad and slalom numbers I wouldn't be too surprised if they are close. It's not a full on sports car nor should it be. I just don't think it's a good value.

Too nitpicky. 105K is a reasonable interval on these services.

Situation is different for everyone. Leasing makes sense for a lot of people. You can be wealthy and lease a car. Leasing won't make a person poor.

If you want a new car every three years, leasing makes sense.

Just because it doesn't make sense for you, doesn't mean it doesn't for others.

Really? Motor Trend ran a 2010 Accord with the 2.4L to 60 in 8.9 seconds. That's not going to beat a new Mustang or anything, but I'm not sure I'd consider 8.9 seconds to 60 to be a "total dog". What's your reference point (what are you comparing that to)?

well it just felt like it was way too heavy for its power and struggled and screamed and moaned uphill - the guy had gotten it because his wife didn't want the v6 and he said it's horrible to drive and was totally [censored].
(I didn't drive it myself - and it was an auto)

0-60 does not give you the entire story about day-to-day performance. You do not treat the gas pedal as an on/off switch during your commute. You can have vehicles with similar 0-60 times that feel completely different in part throttle conditions due to differences in low-end torque and transmission programming.

I have a 2.4 and I find it to be adequate. I'm not sure how fast some people's tastes are. I tend to accelerate on the slow side.
