Was wondering how many people are currently using Supertech or AC Delco ecore filters? I've done a lot of research and the ecore subject has been talked about for years but the design of the cage windows seems smaller now with tighter pleating. My truck is running the AC 47e, I'm switching to the Supertech equilivant, looks the same to me.

There was a recent thread that talked about this - - the Supertech often use a rubber "combo" valve, the AC Delco often do NOT.

Personally, I hate rubber "combo" valves and won't run an oil filter that uses one.

I have been using the supertechs for a long time on Honda's. I have had several Civic's and an Accord. I have a few supertechs left however when they are gone I am switching to Fram Ultra. I have had good results with ST's.

I had a 2005 Colorado, I drove it for 200k switching back and forth between SuperTech and Formula Shell (both 5w30 synthetic) depending upon which store I was in when I needed oil. Probably a 50/50 split. I also ran SuperTech filters exclusively until Wal-Mart discontinued them, then I used AC Delco PF63e. At the end, I ran 3 or 4 Champ filters. (All three brands were E-cores) Sold it to my BIL almost a year ago, it's still running like new.

My Sierra is currently filled with ST syn 5w30 and has a ST filter.

I took a peek inside a random ST at WM. No louvers. Wonder if that makes the flow any better..

Like others have mentioned, the AC Delco versions for the most part have a dome end bypass vs. the standard combo valve on the regular E-Cores.

I have been using up a case of E-Core's on my wife's Renegade and have had no issue. So far, I am on my 4th one from the case and all have shown great construction and no issues. Decent jobber filter in my opinion.

I am using PF-47E. I saw the Supertech version right next to it at Walmart and the price difference was tempting, but understood the bypass valve pressure difference and warranty issues, so.....

Only if the louvers were really closed off (ie, not formed correctly).

The term "flow any better" or "has better flow" or "has more flow" are kind of a misnomers. It really means same flow with less delta-p.

I thought there was no difference between the PF-47e and the Supertech equilivant in this situation, they appear to be the same filter.

I dont exclusively run ecores but i buy one now and then so its limited but so far no issues. I have used a few Defense e-cores (white frams) but looks like they are phasing the ecores out for the regular construction

Yes, because for older GM with block bypass, no combo valve, construction would the same. ST3387.

Seeing "Defense" (white can) value filters mentioned, during the relatively brief Fram Champ alliance, like the current and previous Champ made STs many/most were ecores. Much like the WM TLE Fram Core, now they would all be back to standard Fram fiber construction. The one store locally that sold the Defense line closed so haven't seen them recently.

Oops, sorry i meant PF-63E

I am using the AC Delco PF-63E in the Traverse, but the old style PF-63 in the Impala. When I bought the Impala I bought a case of the old PF-63, but I'm getting down to the last 2 or 3. Since the Impala is not in warranty anymore, I will probably use Napa filter when the AC Delcos are gone.

Is the AC Delco PF63E PRV also 20 psi?

Edit: never mind..... found it. PF63E = 150 kPa, or 21.75 psi (the same as the Baldwin).
