How many Supertech/AC Delco ecore users?

I have used almost exclusively PF48E filters for my Silverado 4.8 due to the number of TSBs that indicate their use. I have had no problems. I would use the ACDelco variant over the SuperTech due to the more reliable done end bypass valve. I've never been keen on that Champ combo valve. Clearly GM engineering has more faith in the dome end valve. I think they are fine filters. I think the newer small window ACDelco eCore design is very reliable. There have been very few failures scene on here. It's all I use, I bought a case off a GM sealer on eBay.

Just looking at the supertech side-by-side to the ACDelco ecore..
Looks like the exact same filter from the cage to the end with the holes everything is identical
Even the same markings on the metal base plate
99% efficiency at 30 microns the ACDelco filter does not list anything

I actually prefer ecores now, after years of bickering on this forum I've yet to see where higher filtration offers more engine life

Theres plenty of people running OEM filters that emphasize flow over efficiency who have made it just as far as people who use other filters that have a better filtration %.

In the past, my old 2013 dart rattled with anything, and I mean anything, including the MOPAR OEM filter. Once I switched to a regular old STP blue or a Luberfiner ecore, ticking went away.

This all being said, early ecores had blowout issues, that since have been fixed with the adjustments to tighter cages.

"Flow over efficiency" (which is touted often) is basically a fallacy because less efficient oil filters can't flow any more oil than the positive displacement oil pump puts out. The only time a better flowing filter would be advantageous is if it prevents the oil pump from hitting relief pressure before redline, whereas a very flow restrictive filter might make the pump hit relief pressure way before redline. But as long as the oil pump is not in pressure relief, all the oil leaving the pump goes through the filter and engine regardless if Filter A is a little more restrictive than Filter B. With hot oil most filters are going to all going to be within +/- a few psi of delta-p even at elevated RPM. Most well designed oil filters (regardless of efficiency) only have 5 +/- 2 psi of delta-p at 8 GPM of hot oil flow.

It's also possible that less efficient filters are more flow restrictive than a more efficient filter - it all depends on the media design and total media area. Only "Flow vs PSID" test data would show for sure. We've seen that data for a few aftermarket filters, but haven't seen such data for any OEM filters that I can recall.

As noted previously this thread, on ecore filters for older GM with block bypass (no filter bypass) the ST ecores could be very similar to or same as the ACDelco equivalent filter.

On ACDelco filters for newer GM with filter integral bypass, not the same as ST ecores. The former use a poppet type dome bypass, the latter use a nitrile combo valve. For that reason, imo the ACDelco is the better of the two filters.

I plan on installing either a supertech or ac delco 46e next week.
Will decide at store 3 supertech or 4 dollars ac delco filter.

Very hard to beat that.

Not for me personally.

In 2013, The dealer installed a PF-61E filter on my old 1999 Deville for an oil change. A few thousand miles later, the oil pressure light would flicker at idle.

I switched to the regular PF-61 and never saw the oil light flicker again when I got rid of it in 2018.

Now on my 2011 DTS, I've used a Purolator Boss Filter, a Master Pack WIX Filter and now i'm using the $1 champion filter on clearance from RockAuto. No issues at all.
