How many SUPER TECH users?

Hello and I know I am probably going to get dragged over the coals for posting this. How many folks here past and present have EVER used SUPER TECH oil and or Super Tech filters? What was super tech oil called before it was super tech also? Honestly after using the Super Tech 5w20 for 5k with a Super Tech 7317, didnt notice a difference at all in the Civic also.

I think it was called Tech 2000 or something like that, at least in the United States. Obviously, once Y2K came, anything called "Tech 2000" was out of date, so they changed the name. I think the same product in Canada is still called "Tech ". I don't think it's "Super Tech".

Lots of discussion on the board about the Super Tech7317 filter. As you may know, it's made by Champion Labs. Look in the oil filter section of the forum.
 
I have used and may once again use SuperTech oil and filters, but not the Ecore designs. I think Ecores are basically flawed in concept, based on several failures we have seen documented here on BITOG. The other SuperTech (non-ecore) filters are OK, and are probably fine for normal OCIs. I really like the SuperTech TCW3 2-stroke oil and I have used it for many years with success in my outboards. I also use some SuperTech grease and other products.
 
Right now I have 10W40 Super Tech and a Super Tech filter in my 99 P.O.S. Tracker. Solid oil for everyday use. I dump it at 5k and refill. I've even used it in my 20K mile Mazda 3 for 5k miles. Its decent stuff. No complaints from me.
 
From what I've seen, SuperTech filters are the same as the STP filters, which are also the same as the AcDelco filters (all of the E-core ones are the same between all 3 brands). i have used those filters, and my dad uses them religiously for approximately 5,000 mile OCI's on conventional SuperTech oil. He has never had any filters come apart or break, they are pretty good quality IMO. As far as their filtering ability down to "x" amount of microns, I don't know. He has also used SuperTech conventional oil in my mom's Mazda6 2.3l Duratec for 7,000 mile OCI's on two different occasions. Never got a used oil analysis done, but the oil wasn't sludgy when it came out, didn't have any weird colors or anything. IMO their filters and oil are pretty good. I live in SE Michigan so i believe Warren bottles the oil, whereas in some southern states i believe Mobil does. i think...
 
I never use SuperTech oil and filters because I can buy brand name oil and filters for less than regular everyday price at WM.

Why should I pay more than $2/qt for SuperTech synthetic oil while I could buy Synpower for $2/qt or less after rebate ?
 
I have been using the Syn Super Tech when I can't justify Amsoil. I had a problem on my Dad's Van with the filters causing noise.
I contacted Champ labs and they said I have to send the bad filter through Walmart.

That was in August and I checked with Walmart a few times and they tell me they have not heard anything? I just left a message for the service manager to give me a status update.

I just tried another Super Tech filter on his van and the noise was still there. Put on a Pure 1 and the noise was gone again.

I have never used Super Tech conventional but I have used Super Tech Syn in two vehicles. During use, I accumulated 100K+ miles with this oil in the two vehicles. No problems to report. OCI was 6K.

I have also used their filters on my Dodge truck, 67 Chevelle, and '55. No problems to report. Steady oil pressure according to the autometer gauges. No 'weird valvetrain' noises to report either.

I used Super Tech syn when it was $11-13 for a 5 qt. jug. The price difference was $5-7 with regards to the name brand stuff.

Now I use the name brand stuff because the price difference isn't as big as it used to be. It might be $2-3 between Super Tech syn and Quaker State Synthetic.
 
I've also used the st7317 filter, it's ok, I think you can do better for the same price with a Purolator Classic, and if you use the Advance auto codes you can get 5 PureOnes for 15 bucks (three bucks each) so it's a no brainer. I have a picture of the SuperTech, WIX and Purolator Classic all cut open here somewhere in that Honda size.

The oil, not since the gear oil lawsuits, but really the used oil analysis have looked really good over the last few years.

Keep in mind your SuperTech may be Mobil, it may be Warren Performance.... your SuperTech may not be the same as someone elses.
 
I like ST fluids. Currently have ST ATF and Gear Oil in my truck and it works wonderfully. I'll use anything ST except the ecore oil filters. If they came out with a better oil filter for my applications, I'd probably use it.
 
Thanks for the replies guys, and up here at local wal marts, the Super Tech 7317 was/is like 2.74$ filter, so that works for me. Always used WIX but think the Super Tech filters are good from reading some of Bill in UTAH's posts on them. Just my two cents.

currently have motorcraft syn blend 5w20 in the civic with a Super Tech 7317 filter, no problems and going to go 5k oci with it, maybe 6k oci, dont know yet
 
this is a weird question , I went to walmart today looking for SuperTech oil Diesel , the dont have it , they have a 15w40 universal oil , is does not look like HDEO, does anyone have a picture of the supertech diesel oil ?
 
Check the specs; I am 99% sure that the 15W40 "Universal" is their HDEO. I used it a few times in my old Mercedes and VW diesels with fine results.
 
I don't know the equivalent SuperTech to the Motorcraft FL400S, but at $3.xx for the FL400S with 1 year/12-14k miles OCI I think I rather spend $1 extra a year for peace of mind. Or someone said, I could buy a bunch of P1 from AAP for about $3.xx.
 
yep have used and still use Super Tech oil, though not as much as I used to though.

yes the Super Tech SAE 30 and 15w40 "universal" oil is a dual rated (gas/diesel) HDEO.
