In our daily drivers I change the oil every 6 months (spring and fall) regardless of mileage. That's usually between 5,500 and 7,000 miles on each, but on occasion it's been closer to 7,500 miles.

I use whatever brand name conventional is on sale at the time I'm ready to change the oil.

I go 5k or 6 month usually, easy to remember, peace of mind, oil isn't terribly expensive. I usually look for deals and stock up on oil, I don't pay attention to OLMs and I don't do used oil analysis.

I follow the manufactures recomdation until the engine is broken-in Or ~ the 3d oil change. I then do a used oil analysis and readajust the OC if required. I LIKE DATA. eD

The OLM on my 06 is a mileage counter. It goes off at 5k, I change it the next weekend. MY Wifes 04 gets it every 6k or so. Both cars get all highway. Could go longer but I like getting under the cars...

I'm beginning to think so too. After not quite two months, my OLM, which was at 93% when I purchased the Regal with the DI 2.4L engine, is down to 67%, which suggests a drop of about 16% a month. In mid-May, if nothing changes, I'll be down to 20% -- and that'll be about 4000-4500 miles of my regular driving.

Good morning guys/gals,

Usually I do go by the OLM monitor but in this case in a way I'm still getting past the every 3K oil changes. Like I said in my Impala after Chevy had the recall and recalibrated my OLM it now wants me to change the oil every 6K now. Even in brothers Caddy with the v-6 engine is the same as the Camaro I have I'm surprised mine indicated 7500K.

OH in another month my worries will be over. Once I get some synthetic in the crank case I can rest a little easier.
