Dead link.

The exact moment the automobile was invented or who exactly invented it is rather nebulous. It kind of evolved in the late 1800s. Some attribute it to Benz (or was it Daimler?) back in 1895.

What Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company is noted for, is that they invented the mass assembly of production vehicles, not the car itself. Before that, automobiles were basically all prototypes, built one at a time.

Better than Guantanemo for being unpatriotic and therefore a "tairist".

The first Benz automobile, I thought, appeared in 1886. The W124 300E appeared in the centennial year for Mercedes-Benz cars (counting from the Benz auto, long before his company merged with Daimler's), 1986. I always referred to my '86 420SEL as the centennial car.

Either BHO is historically challenged, or his speechwriter is and he didn't know to correct it. Or he did know, and decided not to correct it so his speech wouldn't be too complicated for his followers. ("Mass assembly --? Whassat?")
