The site was down for about three days. On the third day, I sent "admin" an email offering to help. That's when we moved from a flat-file Perl database to a real relational database - MySQL.

2017 I guess. But I’m probably a member like that uncle no one likes or invites but who shows up anyways is a “member” of the family.

Longer than I had thought, although I did take a hiatus for a few years.
When I first joined I particularly liked the rebates and promotions forum, since it was nice to be informed of FAR oil, which abounded at the time.
The more senior members who remain usually seem to be the best informed contributors.

I joined here on the very first day, it was the end of May in 2002. I can’t remember exactly what my member number was but I believe it was somewhere between 6 and 9. Bob asked me to be a moderator almost right away because he already knew me from his previous version of the site, which was simply a newsgroup type of format that was on his website. I found that in 2000 or 2001 I believe. There was also the “Noria” oil website back in those days too where we also talked about oil 
I've been here longer, at least 3 years longer than my avatar profile says because of a early snafu with a past PC and operator error.
I joined at the end of 2006, back then GC had it's own sub-section. G-05 was also the coolant to run at that time.

I officially retired in March of 2002. Shortly after I found this site while bored one day, and lurked for several years before joining.
I discovered the site in early 2010 while looking for a good coolant additive (which turned out to be RMI-25).

20 years. Might have been some oddball URL. Might have been something like oildropserver or something. Maybe some added numbers. Even a few years ago the front page pointed mostly to a series of articles with one link to access the forums page. I think that's still the case, but it looks very different.
Since 2015. I was getting tired of waiting over an hour for my dealer to change my oil (they must have figured out that I wasn't going to let them do any other work on the car). I called a new mechanic who had a shop nearby, about oil changes, and he let me know that I could just bring in oil if I wanted to. I needed to know which oil, and this site was one of the first results in a search, and here I am.
