I was cleaning the intake with water and by mistake used lots of water 1/2 gallon so some water got into crank case by blow by . I immediately changed the oil . But before changing the oil I added Gunk Engine oil flush idles the car for 3-4 minutes. How is this stuff .Some say just do not use it.
I have already ordered Auto-Rx due to a slow rear seal leak it . Now pl do not say why u used gunk when the leak was there as it is now done. The car is volvo 240 with B230F engine at 210K miles.

In most engines, I see very little harm in using a product like that at idle speed for a short duration, it may or may not clean much, because the exposure time is very short, but I doubt very many people have destroyed engines doing this...

My worry is that products like that break down very easily, and in the heat of the rings, I wonder if they would be prone to leaving as much crud behind as they are cleaning up elsewhere.

But I have heard of a lot of people mixing kerosene and motor oil 50%/50% and running the car for a lot of miles, and having good results. (mostly this type of experiment is only done on OLD cars that are severely sludged, that aren't worth anything, and often, it works pretty well)

ARX has the advantage of not having any significant impact on the host oils viscosity. The engine is protected by the oil just as well (or better) with ARX in the sump. Because of this, the exposure time can be nice and long.

That explains its lack of popularity however it seems fare
for pouring doen the PVC system while changing the oil.

When I poured some in the oil filler it instantly washed off the varnish on the visible part or the cylinder head. It seemed very thin and volatile. I think it evaporates very fast so use it when the engine is cold.

interesting observation ebaker.(about the instant cleaning)

I think the instructions on the can do say to use it in a cold engine. for obvious reasons, lol.
