Compared to say, Mobil 1 HM of the same weight. I know my interval will be shorter.

Switching over from a M1 filter and M1 HM oil, down to MC and an FL400s.

Stacks up well according the UOA forum.
It used to have a good supply of molybdenum disulfide and gave great results up to about 5k miles.
I haven't seen a VOA recently. It had been made by ConocoPhillips.
Now dunno.
Maybe someone that knows will chime in.

I know in the past it was a great oil for the price (especially when Walmart had it for like $12/jug).
No idea if anything has changed (I have not heard anything), but is easily good for a 5000 mile OCI, if not more, depending on driving conditions.

edit: I see you are switching to a MC filter. I know there has been some flack on the forum lately about MC filters (made by Purolator?), so you may need to look into that.
I still use FL820s filters if I have not found any deals on other brands.

Why did you use the M1 to begin with?

It's overpriced now at Walmart for what it is - IMO. If it's for your 99 Taurus, you'll be fine w SuperTech.

Has a good long history with millions of Ford products running well for a long time. It's dealer fill (usually) and has no downside I can see. Calif requires 6K changes on their fleet of light trucks and cars. Lots are done at dealerships if they are getting other services at the same time. AFAIK, there has never been one reported lubrication related failure related to MC Oils

I'm a fan of blends. All oils are blends. It's just what proportion of what is in the blend... MotorCrafts have held up well, their blend must be good enough

As far as M1 being better - that smacks of fan approval. I see no hard evidence that it's true... Maybe some of their racing oils are better (15W-50) than some off the shelf products, but even there they don't fair all that well among the hard core engine beaters.

In a poll I conducted over at Chevelles.com where a LOT of stout BBC's get built and raced, VR1 was number 1 and Mobile1 was a distant 2nd place by 2:1...

I probably wouldn't buy it at WM due to the price. But for $25 at the Quick Lane Ford dealer it's hard to beat. No appointment needed and they do a nice job. That's where I take the Matrix for an oil change.

I am running Motorcraft 5w30 in the Camry my lady drives and it has been great. I can't say I get all this " it is overpriced for what it is" sentiments expressed on here. The regular prices for Mobil 1 full synthetics are around $25, Pennzoil Platinum $25, Castrol Edge $25, Quaker State Ultimate Durability $22. Every oil has gone up a good amount in the past 10 yrs plus. Out of the oil I mentioned above the Quaker State Ultimate Durability is the one to where it is a clear real deal above the rest. I've read where people have run Motorcraft Synthetic blend in the OLM until close to 10k miles. That's pretty stout. Many routinely run it 7k miles. Now, Mobil Super High Mileage is a synthetic blend which is $15 for a 5 qt containers. Maybe Motorcraft should be this price has well.. Versus $17.97. That I can agree with. I agree with the idea of going to a good Ford fast lane $25 change IF the people running it are good people.

M1 jug is $14-15 after rebate. That's less than I was paying 15 years ago.

For $25 including labor I'd stick with the Ford dealer. We have a Fiesta and use the Ford service for 8-10K OCI, but it is $30 here, but includes a tire rotation.

It might be more than what you were paying 15 years ago but it's nowhere near as good as mobil 1 back then.

I run it in my 2014 Mustang GT and went 7,200 miles on the last oil change and the oil looked almost new on the dipstick. The inside of the engine that I can see looking into the oil fill hole looks clean as it can be.

The car just turned over 19,000 miles and I've not done any Oil analysis on any of the changes but I don't have a problem using it and think it's a good oil.

I have a friend who own's a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 truck that he bought with 76,000 miles on it. The truck now has 383,000 miles on it and for most of the time he has owned it, he ran Trop-Artic which is also made by Conoco Phillips. He said he has run Quaker State for the past few years but the majority of his miles that he has put on were with the Trop Artic. His truck still runs good and the engine is quiet.

I agree with bbhero to a point but when QS synblend I.e. "Enhanced durability" is like $1~ less I have been tempted to flip a coin

When it was much cheaper at WM a couple of years ago it sold very well now i personally think it is too expensive and the other thing is now as far as i know it is made by conoco phillips but that can change anytime. For the price you can do better.

I will continue to use the MC oil filters with confidence.
