Amazon will not publish the actual number but its estimated to be 100 million Prime members. Thats a lot of revenue, but I will bet they spend at least $100 shipping stuff to me (and my daughter who uses my Prime). So the money from Prime is not all profit.

Remember hearing they lease severers to others as well.

You can sell stuff on Amazon without paying a monthly fee. But there are more benefits if you sign up to be a preferred seller (I think thats the term) for $50/month.

Apple has $181 billion overseas and will keep it there due to low taxes.... I don't blame them.

They sold 3 million memberships the week before Christmas. Prime memberships are like a buffet. The buffet is going to get killed by a small percentage of customers. The other folks who get two tiny plates make up the difference.

I read that as well. $100 X 100 million is a hugh cash flow. You can do a lot with that much cash.

I thinks it's stupid we allow it. Earning profit VIA customers in the U.S. and funneling away the taxes to a foreign land. Greed is leading to the slow downfall of our country.

It's better that have the money be in a foreign bank and not have the American Gov squander it.

My employer has $110 billion overseas (2012), no need for greedy politicians to touch it.

They may not make much money now, but Wait until they've driven their competition out of business, then they'll be making some money.

If the American Government can't squander Amazon's or your employers money they'll be happy to squander yours instead.

I'm not sure you understand why that money is overseas in the first place with a comment like that.

I did all my x-mas shopping from the recliner. As long as the price is within reason, that's okay with me, Amazon or another seller fulfilled via Amazon. Saved headaches & whacky blood pressure spikes not going out x-mas shopping.
I have received everything ordered and have never had to return an item.
Recently got a email newsletter for an app for 1-2 hour delivery which I qualified within that delivery 1-2 hour zone, $50 minimum order I think.
I'll remain a prime member as long as it works for me.

I love Amazon, I buy everything I can from them.

Going to traditional stores and standing in line can be painful, Amazon is just so much simpler.

They have some great deals if you shop, I have been cleaning up on Grohe faucets for my properties.

I've seen how Amazon "makes money" in person, and I no longer order from them. How you treat my brother is how you would treat me. Just my opinion....

If you could figure out how to make Amazon turn a profit, you might become the CEO!

Amazing how Amazon make little if any profit. The traditional bricks and mortar stores are closing. Sears, Kmart,Macys and now Walmart. All closing stores. Malls are dying even in supposed affluent parts of the country.

The stupidity of it all is that we have the highest corporate tax rates in the world and thus encourage keeping profit overseas.

A little higher mathematics: For example,(I am picking 20% as a random #:)

181B X .35 = $0 (because money is kept off shore)

181B X .20 = $36,200,000,000

36.2B solely dedicated to infrastructure fixes a lot of roads/bridges.
This country needs to be competitive with corporate tax rates. Might lead to additional government revenue and some additional jobs.

The next trick is to demand responsible government spending.

You're right, I have zero idea why many companies shelter their money overseas

I totally agree and without getting political, many are PO'd about it.
I think that frustration is starting to grow and show.
My point is that with a reasonable tax rate, 15-20% of 181B$'s could be dedicated to fixing infrastructure.
Instead, a group of incompetent, mouth breathing sloths have decided that 35% of zero is so much better, along with exterminating the potential for jobs that would result.
And this just refers to one company.
Insanity is simply doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Just think...

$50 billion a year in foreign aid to puppet governments that hate us X 25 years ?????
What condition will all those bridges be in 25 years up North that have out lived their service life ?
