TSB 19-045:
During production, a supplier produced some timing belts that do not meet specification. These timing belts may shred
or slip, causing the cam shafts to fall out of timing. Camshafts that are out of timing will set DTC P0341: CMP Sensor
and CKP Sensor Incorrect Phase Detected and/or DTC P0369: CMP Sensor Circuit Intermittent Interruption and the
engine will run rough. Additionally, shredded timing belts may cause the vehicle to stall and not be able to restart, which
increases the risk of a crash.

Applies to some 2019 and 2018 Pilot, Odyssey, and Ridgeline

Well.....Gates Unitta is who usually made Honda Timing Belts in the past. It would be interesting if they switched suppliers?

I was considering buying a Ridgeline before I re-upped for another F150. Incentives, discounts and 0% financing swayed me back into another Ford. Well, that's not all; my old FX4 was a good truck taking little in the way of maintenance, the Ridgeline requires several maintenance items dictated by the MM including timing belts at around 100k miles. Honda is proud of the Ridgeline too- little in the way of discounts (compared to Ford) and certainly no zero financing.
Now this timing belt recall makes me glad I stayed in "the family".

I'd much rather have a recall on a $20 timing belt which takes 20 minutes to replace vs timing chain/tensioner which requires hours of disassembly.

I think it's a few hours of work, like 4+, on a Honda V6. Might still be less than a timing chain, certainly compared to some.

Meh. Another recall. But the OEM is taking care of it. Annoying but par for the course.

Amen, all my Kias have belts as does my Hyundai(3.5). That Hyundai was a bear with the duel cams and practically no room to work, Cam locks should be mandatory for that motor. Plus you need a special tensioner tool. Two 17MM wrenches and a lot of cussing to line up those cams. The Sportage 2.0 wasn't bad and I can do the Sportage with 2.7 in about three hours with a water pump. Almost 200K on the 2.0 on its third belt and the 05 2.7 has almost 300K on its 3rd belt. Still a pain.
