This is why I don't use Honda MTF anymore...

This fluid is one of those low viscosity MTL's which have an ATF-like viscosity but with a GL-4 protection level additive package.

Many dry-clutch DCT trannys use this same type of formulation.

Kinetic viscosities of most lubricants are tested at 40C and 100C in order to determine viscosity index.

Think heat transfer from the engine block to the transission case in cramped quarters with exhaust system pipes nearby.

Considering my transmissions were designed around a 30 weight MTF, and there will be a piping hot header tucked right next to it and I will be slamming through gears like I mean business....

I'm going to stick with at least a 30wt mtf.

Brenden, What do you mean 30 weight MTF? I think you mean a manual tranny fluid around a 30 weight SAE?

OK, but you should probably translate that SAE crankcase measurement into cSt ... leaving you with a MT fluid from about 9 to 11 cSt ... which translates to an 80 or 85 weight gear oil (with the proper add-pack, of course).

Just in the interest of clarity ...

Where do you get Honda MTF II?

I called local dealers and they only stock/list/know-of Honda MTF. Is this a Canada/US thing?
