Planning ahead for shocks and struts for the 12 Fit and I come to find the OE struts as well as the OE loaded assemblies are listed as discontinued across all the parts sites. Honda’s own DreamShop also says not available. I’m surprised since they are still stocking OE struts for a 1990 accord.

I’m going to wait it out to see if this is temporary and they come out with something revised but in the mean time, have feelings changed on KYB ExcelG or Bilstein B4? I myself had good results with KYB in the past but I’ve seen some sentiment that quality for both have gone down. Any recent (post pandemic) experiences? Would pair either of those with OE hardware if I go that route.

I put a set of KYB Excel-G quick struts on my 2010 Civic. 60k miles and 3.5 years later I am very happy with them.
I've also had good luck with KYB in my wife's former MKX as well as her current '13 Fusion. No issues and tens of thousands of miles so far.

Search the part numbers on ebay with "genuine oem" then part number and see if any seller in Japan has them. Makes sure they are genuine, and run away from any listing that has "for" in the title. "Genuine honda" - good, "for Honda" - hm.

HOT TIP:

The duralast loaded struts from Autozone are made by KYB. This was told to me with proof by the AZ regional manager during routine visit to my shop. I have used them on several customer's cars with good results....and the booklet inside the box is from KYB.

They have them for your fit.

But are they a quality product at a decent price?

Edited to say: KYB could be making cheap junk for AZ. Or it could be a product available elsewhere for less.

Yes. The several I have used were nicely built and performed well. No issues like I have seen with Quick struts from Monroe for example. Ride heights were fine, no noises, exact install and prices are very reasonable.
