Honda Camshaft Recall and Fix

When the complaints starting stacking up last year, Honda issued a stop ship notice at retail, and all unsold mowers were, presumably, returned to Honda. Changing the camshaft is a 30 minute job. No big deal. Now those mowers are being returned to the retail market. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

The gas mowers are now back at the dealers. My question is why Honda sells battery mowers in England and Australia, according to the tube, but with the recent market going that way, they don't join in?

So what’s the deal with Honda Power Equipment. Are they selling new lawnmowers or not. Here are three screen shots including on with a 2024 date. They still list over 10 different lawnmowers.

They would have to recall all the engines they've produced in the last 20 years.

I'm a fan of the older Briggs engines, the flatheads were bulletproof, but the newer Inteks are way too problematic and cheaply built with multiple poor designs that were never corrected.
Yeah I have had exactly one Briggs ohc engine and the crank shaft broke after 2 years.
The only way to kill a Briggs flathead is running it without oil.

Honda dealer has had my mower since mid April of this year, they still have it. Dealer is going to be replacing parts not the motor. They aren't making anymore GCV 200 motors, Honda decided to cheap out. Missed an entire cutting season so far, good thing I kept the old Briggs and Stratton powered Craftsman. Not impressed with Honda corp. whatsoever.

Totally not a fair situation. At least it seems when this happens with cars, loaners are provided.

Anyway my Honda was $629 in 2021. $799 in 2022. I think yet even higher prior to the stop sale. I saw it 2 weeks ago at HD for $629. Amazing the rise and fall. I didn’t spend $629 thinking it’s just an any old cheap machine…
