My wife took her 19 CRV in for the fuel pump recall. Brought it in with a half tank of fuel as requested by dealer. When she picked it up,had a real strong gas odor inside the vehicle that finally went away in a couple of days. On her way back from the dealer she filled her tank up. Indicator only went to 3/4's. She drove it for a few days and retuned it to the dealer. They said they pulled the new pump up and checked connections. Said it was good after they reset. On her way home again she filled the tank and it took ten miles of driving before it showed full. The readout now says 258 miles left on the tank and it should be about 400 on a full tank.... Anyone else having similar problems after having the recall done?
Thanks!

The delay in reaching a full indication is rather odd. However, the fuel gauge on the Legend, while reading close to full, usually takes a but of time to indicate full.

The miles to empty is typically an estimation based on the previous tank. I would drive it until your preferred fill-up (1/4 tank or whatever), fill it full and then see what the distance to empty is.

it's not unusual, things will improve over time.

in my experience, it's best to have the tank as empty as possible before replacing the fuel pump and level sensor.

To speed the process up, drive it further on a tank if you're comfortable doing that (400 miles would be good). The system will learn it's true empty and full states..

Not sure if the fuel pump includes a sender, but Techron seems to help keep the sender functioning. The MGM in my sig occasionally has trouble, even throws a code when it does it. Techron brings it back.

I have a 2018 and problems with ? Fuel pump. I was told by my private mechanic there is a software update for my car which may be causing the issue. Check online with you VIN

Thanks for all the replies, appreciate it. My wife said she will try to get the tank as close to
possible to empty and then refill it as mentioned by a few of the replies. Hope this works.
She transports handicapped men a couple of days a week and can't have a issue with
them in her car.
Thanks Again foe your replies

They damaged the level sensor . Honda fuel pump recall is pump only not the whole assembly. Ask for the part number and then tell them that the other part is now damaged. They will make it right and if not call Honda directly and they will make it right

Or tell the service manager that you have $60 cash in the car go fill it up and you tell me that Its reading properly

carry a small gas container just in case. 1 gallon should get you to the nearest fuel station.

and turn off the car when gassing up, this where the issue began imo (at the dealership).

This exact same condition happened to me when I replaced a fuel level sensor on a Honda Odyssey earlier this year. Allegedly, some of the newer digital fuel level gauges need to "re-calibrate" itself over ~20 minutes of driving after a power loss before displaying correctly. According to the factory service manual, you can manually force it to re-calibrate by pulling a 40A back-up fuse (See NOTE: below)...maybe that is what the dealer did to reset it?

^^^^ This is good advice.

To eliminate another potential variable, have your wife refill the empty tank at a different gas station than she used previously, just in case of the remote possibility that the original gas station had compromised fuel.
