So I'm in the market for a home theater projector since my current one [censored] on me and would cost too much to fix.

My budget is $2000 plus/minus $300. Looking for something that will fill a 125" screen with a 13' throw.

So far I've looked at Benq w1085st, SH915, Optoma 25e/26e, 141x and Epson 5030ub.

Any personal experiences and advice that can lead me to the right purchase is appreciated!

Can a projector on a screen possibly provide the contrast and picture quality of a screen?

I don't know, Ive just never been pleased when watching stuff projected unless the circumstances were absolutely ideal and even then...

Yes it can. One of my friends has one in his house and the HD quality is very high. I will ask him what the projector is, because the setup is very similar to what the OP is looking for.

Thanks! Yes, projectors have come a long ways. With many projectors pumping out over 2500 lumens they are now watchable even in rooms with ambient lighting.

Our 11 year old Panasonic projector is going south a little at a time. It's been a super machine though with no trouble and a wonderful picture till about a year ago.

We are going to try to make it till the ultra-HD projectors are out and not extremely expensive. Not sure when that will be.
