Home roof hail damage

If you do go through with this, consider what will happen if you need to file another claim in the next few years. I know my homeowner's insurance premiums have doubled over the past 4yrs. I live in a relatively low cost for homeowner's insurance area and have never filed a claim. I have shopped around and have had 4 different carriers over the past ~20yrs or so.

As of 9 yrs back started seeing 24% , then 28% then 32% then 39 % then 42% then 55% Increases
They are Insane . .this was with 5K deductible . . Zero Claims !

We Fix everything - They Knew It !

I don't know what to do about it at this point honestly!

I moved into this house in 2018 and paid about $500/yr or maybe $600/yr at the time.

I have had no claims, have the same coverage but higher deductible, and shopped around 2 years ago and got the best rate I could find at the time ... this week the bill came in for next year and it is... $1,649 for the year

At this point I know it's probably gonna be $3,000 next year if I go through with it or not.

My buddy who worked at Farmers for 15 years told me it ain't getting better anytime soon either.

I hear you. I paid $200K for my home in 2011. Insurance says it would cost $720K to replace it today, thus my ever increasing premiums. I'm decent with a dollar, but I'm not BITOG good by any means. LOL

Everyone should Be saying what State Your In - as that's - Important . .

What I have seen since around Jimmy Carter - of which I been By His Home .. & have 12 Pack of Full of Billy Beer around here some place .. with Senior Retiring & Going Smaller - mean Insurance Corps seen some what less Funds , but they Jacked up all Auto's around this Time Line ..
The Storms Started Wiping Out Home Owners and Claims went Up so started raising prices every 3-4 yrs
The Fires Started in Calif then Other Places - Prices went up every 2yrs , then every 1yr - now in some states it's every 6 months ..
COMPUTERS GOT IN THERE ALSO ..
Anyhow all Fires & Storms - left real bad Taste in Owners Mouths with all Claims BS & Lawyers & up to 2 yrs .. settle .

They Rented or Got and RV - RV Population in this Country has Exploded - Mostly at same Time 50% Price Jacks Hit - 25 Million Seniors now 38 Millions Seniors said I'll Pass - See Ya !

% of UN-Insured has Doubled- Technically Insurance Corps - want to make More Money with Less Customer Base .
Priced ~ Folks Out of Market . .

Same is Happening with Health Insurance . . but Here where LINE should be STOPPED ..
All Insurance Corps that- Have any way Shape or Matter to do with Health - No Mater what Connection ..
Should NOT Be Listed on Stock Exchange . . We are NOT Cattle . .

Someone else posted this is very important. Every state is different and how claims are handled.
It is state law on how they are.

With that said anytime you make a claim that is a ding on your insurance score, much like your credit score. It will determine future insurance rate that you pay.
So in many areas thinking you’re getting a new roof you may pay for the rest of your life on anything insured. However, if your roof is truly damaged by hail you might as well take it while you can get it.

That’s the good news. The bad news is if anybody in your area has a hail claim whether or not you make a claim for your roof based on storm damage you will see a bump up in your insurance rate as the storm damage rating of that area may go up.

Your risk factor for the area has gone up now that some neighbors have claimed hail damage.
