2018 Subaru Forester - Got Hail Damage!

I’d be interested in a diminished value check… or just not worry about it and drive it, save the insurance payout for if it ever needs it, depending on how it’s covered. She’s 19. Dimples are cosmetic.

I remember being a team lead, mid 30s with a good company and a good job, driving a used jeep with the entire right side scraped off by the previous owner via phone pole. It sported bondo, my own spray paint repair, and a toilet flush handle wired into the door to open it. It was a great car, my favorite, and I loved it. I *never* worried about where it was parked. I know that is a bit extreme by most people’s standards, but there is a freedom in it.

Tbh, idk if I could do that today…. Good times.

There aren’t first party diminished value claims in most all states so nothing to be gained there.

I’d have a PDR guy look at it and maybe fix everything but the roof depending on how tall she is.

Suggest she pay for PDR for the hood only since that is all she really sees. You are kind to help her out but in your own words you have used the word "spoiled" more than once. I'll leave it at that.

I do like the hood suggestion. Seems that would handle a lot of the most obvious damage with ~7 bolts give or take. The SJ hoods are Al so rust wouldn't be a concern with JY units. Look used for the matching color and bolt it on.

Has the vehicle owner been asked if this would help her concerns?
