HM oils vs. Seal Conditioners

I've been reading up on a seal conditioner - Forte is the maker. I've seen firsthand that High Mileage oils do a superb job in conditioning worn seals. How would adding a seal conditioner to regular oil compare to the job that High Mileages do? If (eg) Forte did a good job, then this would free a person up to choose the oil of their choice (and add the conditioner) instead of having to go with an High Mileage. Is this true?

Wow, I've posted this question before. Because I for one feel that High Mileage oil is more of a marketing ploy to bring in more money. I also feel that the oil companies take advantage of us consumers by making it so that we feel we need a High Mileage oil to protect our seals when they have the capability to put the conditioner in every grade; thus, eliminating product called High Mileage oil. My question was: Why don't oil companies just put seal conditioners in regular oil? Answer: then they wouldn't have a way to create a price point and bring in more money for a more expensive product. I hate being taken advantage of, so I quit purchasing High Mileage oil

They can be good. It depends a lot on the strength and proportions you add. An automatic transmission sealer is 5% synthetic esters in Dexron, that you then dilute in 5 qts or so of ATF in the car. Since I have the concentrate, sometimes I measure it out for other products, but you don't want to overdo it.
You would want to follow instructions to make sure you end up with the right end result.

Widman - do you have any other names besides Forte? I looked around using google a bit and this is the only one I've found so far.

I don't know about any brand other than Mobil 1. However, the Mobil 1 high Mileage are completely different oils from the regular oils. Compared to the regular Mobil 1 10w30, the 10w30 High Mileage has a much higher 100C cSt of 11.79 compared to 10.0 for the M1. The HM HTHS is much better at 3.66 compared to the regular M1 HTHS of 3.14. The HM has more antioxidents and more detergents. The HM has a ZDDP of 1000 compard to the regular M1 of 800. Oh yes, the extra seal conditioner.

I tried Bars with Rotella T syn in an old ATV. It dramatically slowed the weep. What did it do to the oil? It did not blow up.

I love the Rotella in aircooled engines, but it is like penetrating oil the way it weeps, so I made it Rotella Syn HM......
