I'd love to hear the thoughts on this video!

I think it's great to see someone from outside the oil nut community do a deep dive on this kind of topic.
I'm having trouble believing that he has done any real damage to this engine by his oil choice. I'm thinking that the noise probably has more to do with a design flaw... but, what do I know. 🤷‍♂️

The bearings do see the 150°C from the HTHS spec. Or rather, the temp in the bearings is 30°C or more above the bulk oil temperature.

And he could get 5W30 A3/B4 if he wanted to stick to the SAE viscosity. But not a bad choice, 5W-40 although I wouldn't go C3 myself.

I wonder if the magnet will stay magnetic while hot.

Now he goes off on an oil finding spree and ends up with a CK4 Rotella T6 and enjoys a clicking noise free engine.
That click is he's going low on oil pressure, so he might find out if moving to a thicker oil is all that is going to sort his issue, or whether he has an oil seal or pump about to fail on him.
