High viscosity index PS fluid

Alfa Romeo used DXIII in their PS systems until 2008 when they switched to this stuff for some models

This is very light fluid with an enormously high VI, 313! I gather they really dont want the fluid to thicken up too much. Is there a suitable alternative?

CHF11S has a VI of 313. CHF202, which supersedes 11S, has a VI of 302.

Impressive specs. Sadly we can't get that stuff in the states.

Nothing really unique, they're just high-performance synthetic hydraulic fluids.

I am not sure. Sometimes power steering fluids have different additive packs that lead to trouble if one is replaced with another. I usually see it when basic PSF is used in a Honda, or a European car that needs Pentosin.

The best thing to do with P/S systems that use DexIII is to either use a premium grade multi-vehicle ATF, or Dexron VI.

The Honda PSF has an addpack that looks similar to a manual transmission fluid (MTF) with a 30 weight (11.5 cSt) base oil.

Carquest has CHF 202.

BMW's use D4 ATF, so how is it designed specifically for them?

Thanks. I didn't know whether it was just me not understanding. I know that I can get CHF 202 so I couldn't understand why others might have some difficulty.

I suppose it depends on where one is. I would imagine that the easiest place for many would be the dealership, even though it might not be labelled 202. That's the simplest (and cheapest) way to get it here. ; The 11 is easier to get here.

Not Honda, but Ford (Australia) use Mobil AGRI 424 in power steering down here...Dexron makes my Holden howl, but the low V.I., thick, additised 424 keeps it quiet even in winter.
