High Performance Lubricants PCMO Series

I've been using HPL NO VII oil for 3 oil changes now in my 6.6L gas GMC 3500.
It burns about 1/2qt in 7,500 miles.
I used Amsoil 5w30 signature series before. It didn't burn ANY oil with it.
Not sure why it's burning the HPL. 🤔
ive read many people with these engines see oil consumption up to 1 quart per 1000 miles. I think GM said 1 quart for every 100 gallons of gas is acceptable. Id say 1/2 a quart in 7500 miles is just fine

not sure if this is the right thread but do you plan on making MTF fluids? Looking for a suitable replacement for Honda MTF. I know you have differential life but that's a little thick and not sure how well that would work when Honda uses such a thin fluid. not really satisfied with the Honda MTF. gets real notchy/rough once it gets hot.

Get ahold of Mary Jane at ADVLubrication. I’ve heard they make it, just may not have it on the website.

They make a 75W manual transmission fluid that meets the specification for Volvo’s six speed and works well. Give them a call.

I have used Amsoil’s MTF and the equivalent Redline fluid many years ago. Probably the best shifting MTFs I’have tried, but I don’t keep much around since so few manual gearboxes these days. I put it in a few older, worn gearboxes that spec’d ATF, and they shifted smoother and ran much quieter with a quality MTF

i ended up ordering some Redline MTL. I've had good experiences with Redline MT-90 in the past. I tried Torco MTF but it felt a bit too slippery and was hard to get into 1st; but it's a GL-5 fluid. Honda MTF feels too thin, especially when hot. maybe i'll try some HPL MTF in the future if it becomes available.

It IS available. I told you that. So did other people.

You didn’t call them, did you?

thanks. sent HPL an email. if they have something that will work I will try that instead of the Redline.
Let me know if they do now. I asked about a year ago, & the response was not at the time being. Differential Life has the LSD friction modifier which is a no go. GL-5 isn't good for brass synchros.

HPL uses a non-sulfur EP additive, which is how it is fine for all yellow metals. It’s fine for brass synchros.

Interesting. I was told by them not to use the Differential Life. I'll have to run it by them again.

a little light on the viscosity side (wanted something slightly thicker than OE) but good to know they make it.
I asked the same thing, & this was the response.

"We do offer our Diff Life 75w80 if you prefer that
Thicker is not better- in a gear box it can result in foaming and higher temps - actually reducing protection on longer drives."

I decided to go with the thinner MTF10, as that was his recommendation. My Civic is also a slow, gen 7 econo-box with the D17 motor & am not pushing my gears to redline every day. It mainly just sees longer freeway drive times, but RPM's usually stay between 300/400k for long distance & use 5w40 in the crankcase as he recommended to me a year ago where I prefer it thicker anyway. Made sense to me that in a gear box the thinner oil would cool down quicker & flow better, providing better protection, so I decided to give it a go.

Another shoutout to Mary Jane and HPL! Worked with her over email for better part of a day to find a good balance of quantity and decent shipping after my initial order quote had super high shipping. Ended up splitting the order between usps and fedex. That type of excellent customer service goes a long way, one of the reasons I will continue to support them!
