High Performance Lubricants No VII series engine oils.

He really doesn’t oversell and I really appreciate it. Recommended vanilla PCMO for my car and it’s worked out great without overspending.

No worries Titan. Knowing they don’t try to oversell and I am certainly not knowledgeable on the subject like the HPL crew, I value their recommendations!

I haven't used HPL motor oil yet but do plan to in the near future. I do have 4 qts of their
75-140 differential fluid that I'll be using when I change out my rear differential fluid soon.
From everything I've read, their products are top notch and definitely deserve a try.

No mention of BMW in the recommendations for No VII Euro, should I avoid it for a 2017 540ix?
Nothing mentioned in the PDS either

Sure that's what I have in my car right now, but would like to see how No VII performs
The No VII recipes are full SAPS 502.00/505.00 add packs. The Euro line in 30 grade or less will be mid-SAPS 504.00/507.00 packs usually.

So basically you are using a mid-SAPS HPL and wondering how the Full SAPS version would do? Does your car need LL-04 or LL-01?

Question… I’ve seen a number of times on this forum that members state they would not run these No VII oils in very cold temperatures. But why not? Their pour point and MRV is great. Am I missing something?

They have a "W" rating, so people should go by that like any other multi-viscosity oil.

My concern would be the ester base oil thickening during use.

I use the no vii oils, but if I was in a below 0F climate, I'd want some vii.

I wouldn't hesitate to use the 5W20/5w30 in any temps you would use a 5W. I'm also ok using the pedestrian euro 5w30 in the sump right now with the single digit temps we've had the past couple weeks.

The oils they use have a naturally excellent viscosity curve that doesn't need a VII. It's not like the VI is 0 without them.

Yep, why not. They are 5W winter grade, so all 5Ws should be fine for cold starts where any OM calls out a 5W-xx multi-grade oil. Some here might split hairs and look at the Cold Cranking and Pumpability viscosity values to choose the 5W with the lowest CC and Pumpability viscosity.

After watching Lake Speed Jrs latest video comparing several oils including Redline & HPL No Vii, I was intrigued by the high TEOST Deposit weight score both HPL & Redline received.

I am wondering what would cause these two top tier oils to receive such a score. Would this be due to the high molly content in them or some other sort of additives?

There's a whole discussion on this, do a search.
