Makes sense (I mistakenly assumed it probably called for 10w-40 like so many modern motorcycles do).
Does HPL show the HTHS viscosity for their motorcycle oils?I’m running the 10w-40 HPL in my ninja and I wring its neck everyday on my commute. Coming up on a 2k mile midpoint UOA just to see what’s going on. I fully trust this oil either way though.

I’ve got an email into them, let’s see what they come back with….
To my knowledge, no. I’m sure they would if asked.
.
.I am also curious about their motorcycle oil too. I have been a Redline user for years, often using their 10w40 car oil, sometimes their motorcycle oil. Never any issues with either one. Being a bit of a recent an HPL convert for my cars, I am burning through my old Redline stash in my bikes and am contemplating the oil for my new bike. The new bike (BMW M1000XR) calls for BMW's Advantec oil, but I cant bring myself to use it. BMW calls for a 5w40 JASCO MA2 oil, so for HPL, I have to decide between 5W40 Euro car oil too meet the weight, which isn't JASCO MA2, or their motorcycle oil at 10w40, missing BMW's weight. Hmmm.
The 10w-40 offering from HPL will be just fine. Run it with confidence.I am also curious about their motorcycle oil too. You guys pushed me over the edge. I'll order some up.Thanks.The 10w-40 offering from HPL will be just fine. Run it with confidence
Btw, I was only speaking about the general difference 5w-40 and 10w-40 oils in the viscosity sense-was not speaking to the particular products that are a different viscosity. Personally I would go with the HPL.Unless it is significantly cold when using it, I can't imagine that there would be much (performance) difference between the 5w-40 and 10w-40, but I may be wrong (still very much in a learning phase).
would this oil work in Diesel applications? I have a 2006 VW TDI diesel and am trying to figure out if the NoVII is a good fit for this engine. Anyone out there use this in their diesel or have insights whether this is good?
Their CL-4 HDEO 5w30 works well in my Dakota. Awaiting UOA of it that has 6k on it.Why would their HDEO line not work? Interestingly enough when I asked Dave for recommendations, he said their HDEO is the ticket for the 3.0l GM 4-cylinder in my boat. He could certainly have recommended NO-VII, yet didn’t. It’s a good bit more affordable than NO-VII too.
Direct recommendation from Dave...and it's "more affordable"...why entertain any other advice? Why would their HDEO line not work? I’m not at all, who said I’m entertaining other advice? What I was getting at is if their HDEO is recommended for a boat motor that will see far more abuse than decreppo’s road-going car why look at a pricier oil that isn’t needed?Direct recommendation from Dave...and it's "more affordable"...why entertain any other advice?
Indeed. Dave is very knowledgeable about what his oils are best at, and won’t oversell you. I’ve had numerous talks with Dave, and while he feels SuperCar is not only their best oil, he will only recommend what’s needed for your application. I choose to run NoVII Euro 5w30 in my tuned EcoBoost just because I know I work my turbo bearings HARD (seen 23+ psi) and the lack of VII means nothing will shear.Direct recommendation from Dave...and it's "more affordable"...why entertain any other advice?
Sorry, I took post #795 as a stand-alone with a question, as I hadn't remembered reading your earlier posts. I see now that you weren't entertaining other advice, it just looked that way with no historical setup.I’m not at all, who said I’m entertaining other advice?
