Is this the engine that most people here avoid? It held up pretty well if it's the original. I'm tempted, just for the bragging rights and the experience.

At least it's not like Facebook where the sellers turn off the light to hide a problem but it comes back on when you drive it home.

Buy it, take it to "autobahn" or "Mexico", and then let's see if it can reach the top speed before the pistons melt.

It looks pretty clean. Buy it and report back.
I thought all the 1.5s had trouble because of short trips. That 1.5 must have spent all it's time on the interstate.

FWIW my wife's 2018 Equinox with the 1.5 FWD so far has been OK. Had the turbo wastegate solenoid replaced under warranty at 29,000 miles and the sunroof 'recalibrated' (whatever that means) after the bumper to bumper warranty was up at 39,700 miles for $100 at the dealer. So far it hasn't burned any oil and it gets pretty decent gas mileage. She short trips it occasionally but it has mainly seen highway miles. I change the oil every 5000 miles regardless of what the oil life monitor says. I replaced the OEM tires at 34,400 mil;es and the plugs at 56,100 miles. Nothing else.
These 1.5's at least come in our shop with oil on the dipstick, something the 2.4 of previous generation can't say. Along with the timing chain rattle that came stock on the old ones... gotta be better. But it is a FWD GM 4 cylinder still...
