Used CR-V? RAV4? Equinox?

I don't think it's very realistic to be shopping for a suv/crossover and expect it to be as quiet/road noise-free as a Park Avenue. If the suv IS that quiet, then it can't be a real SUV.

I drove a RAV4 (2009 I think?) recently (friend's); it felt light and somewhat plasticky inside. Wife has a friend who has an escape (2008), and it felt a lot more "solid",(I was only a passenger in it, though)

The MAZDA 6 is impressive looking . We were admiring it in the showroom while waiting for the keys to test drive the MAZDA 2 Sport with a 5 speed manual.

Dad also owns a pickup truck, so he'll to be tolerant of a reasonable amount of road noise.

Again, a certain amount of it may go back to the tires as well. I need to find out if the one they drove had OE tires, and what the tires were.

Ya know, I have driven all of the SUV's mentioned above and all are quite nice but, all have their own driving feeling and comfort level(depending on your particular body structure). For example, I need seats that are wide and have good lumbar that also help me sit up a bit higher, as I like to look down over the dash/hood of the car rather than having them closer to eye level(older Buicks/Fords). I also like vehicles with less blind spots. They're all today comming with more blind spots(thicker pillers, narrower glass) for better crash protection. Each vehicle feels a little different in my hands.

MrSilv04, your dad needs to drive the SUV's that he has narrowed down and pick the most comfortable for him. I think that he'll have good succuss with any of them.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to drive my dad's '05 equinox this past week. The thing is a POS. It only has 28k miles on it and already he has had to replace (out of warranty) the steering shaft (intermediate shaft fiasco, and its clunking again), a front wheel bearing, several interior switches, and now the front brakes are grinding. Wow! He is meticulous about maintenance too and details the thing weekly. Why he keeps it, I'll never know.
