$3.39 today at my local 7-11, up 4 cents from yesterday. Yesterday the Marathon station up the street was $3.45, up 6 cents from just the day before.
I have a feeling this is going to get much worse before it ever gets any better, and even then I doubt we will ever see gas less than $3.00 a gallon again. There is way too much money and profit to be made by the speculators, traders, fat cat oil company execs, and everybody else associated with the oil and gas industry to lower prices to reasonable levels now, and not at any time in the future, either.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall at some of the fat cat oil execs' meetings. I can just hear it now:
"Hey, look...it's almost "summer driving season" again! And it's also very close to the time when we all switch from the junk winter blend fuel back over to summer blend loaded with ethanol! Just those 2 facts alone ought to be enough "reason" for the oil and gas industry to jack the prices up at least another dollar per gallon, don't you think?"
And they can do it too. They will have the blessing of certain people in certain occupations who can make even more money off of tax and regulatory revenues on the insane gas prices. I can't say who those people are for fear of the thread becoming political in nature.
However I can say without a doubt, I hate oil companies and the way they and the people connected to them use any excuse they can think of to stick it to the ordinary working people who are just trying to get by, make a decent living and support their families.
The oil and gas industry and their practices make me sick.
OK, rant is over.
