I can't believe it. I thought I had grabbed the Mobil 1 Dexron III ATF but started pumping in Mobil 1 oil instead. I realized that the fluid in the pump tube was gold, not red, after maybe 2 or 3 ounces went in.
The transfer case is a Borg-Warner full-time unit in a 1995 GMC Safari. The drain plug doesn't quite let all the fluid drain, so I have been purging by dillution effect using some cheap ATF.
How perfect do I need to assure that there is no residual motor oil?
