OK, I'm going to drain and fill the transfer case fluid on my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 3.0 Duramax. It requires Dexron VI for the fluid. Pick a quality fluid. I don't care if it is a boutique brand or major company.

If it was your truck what would you put in it?

probably redline since you need about 2 quarts?

HPL you have to order 6qt and shipping ouch

Beyond the expensive boutique oils as per normal suggestions......

Mobil Multi Vehicle meets the spec and is a bit thicker than typical Dex 6........and pretty cheap.

Tcases typically dont have a system that cools them, like an AT, and dont use pressures and solenoids valves to work.

I second @Pablo aswell.

I don't think most transfer case units are going to benefit from a 10-15% higher viscosity. Were talking about gears, chains, bearings and maybe a couple clutches? The add-pack and a quality base is what makes the difference.

I'd skip any Dexron spec and go higher like the new Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF or maybe Amsoil.

Valvoline has been making an impressive showing and it's not because of an expensive base oil, they seem to be leading the charge in anti-wear and cleaning.
