This past summer I moved to the middle of nowhere, and I have to drive nearly an hour to get my preferred Napa Gold filters. So, for the sake of convienence, I need to pick a new "go to" filter.

Vehicles are 2000 Jeep grand cherokee with 140K on the clock, but only 10K on the engine (installed a reman at 130K) and a 2003 Jeep Liberty with 80K on the clock. I run synthetic in both, with OCIs of 5,000 or 6 months. (gotta find another go to oil as my stash is gone). Location is southern IL, highs in the summer 100+, winter lows of 0-teens.

Locally, I have only walmart and autozone. There are a few local parts places that have aweful selections and prices.

I'd like to stay around 5 bucks for cost if possible, so no M1 or K&N here.

I've narrowed down to...
motorcraft, mopar (only available for the WJ, and not oversized), and bosch.

Opinions?

That's what I do, since I'm usually already ordering stuff from Amazon.

Last I heard Bosch owns Purolator and so Bosch filters are pretty much the same as standard Purolator filters (or maybe between the standard and the PureOne filters). But things might've changes since I last heard that.

To be honest, I've never heard anything bad about Motorcraft filter. It's what I get for my brother's Explorer when I have to buy a filter for it. Solid filters at a reasonable price

Bosch.

You have a Carquest nearby and the Carquest Blue is very good.
Wix, Napa Gold and CarQuest Blue are the same.

Bosch is an excellent filter. AutoZone sells them for a reasonable price so there you go.

I don't know if the difference between Botch and the AZ house brand or ST gets you anything except an old German name.

Depends on the exact filter. On my applications it does, but I don't run mopar v6's so I can't say in this application.

If it were me, I'd get a bunch or Purolator or Boschs (same thing). I cut mine up and am pretty happy with them. I'll have a napa gold in 7500 miles, I'm interested to see what I find. The supertech for my app is 1" shorter, with significantly smaller media than the others I mentioned.

Thanks for the info on the carquest blues. I stopped in and asked, and the guy at the counter was a little shocked I knew that the blues were made by wix, and commented that I must have done some homework to find that out, as not a lot of people in this area know that.

Thanks, picked up my wix, although it was about a buck more than NAPA... oh well...

No Jeep expert here but...I thought some were sensitive to start-up issues and that for some reason (?) only got addressed by the Mopar filters.

I didn't know a MC would fit a Jeep! They're good especially if "S" on the end for silicon ADBV.

Bosch (Purolator made) are one of my fav's for all around.

I won't have to get filters for another 2 years. I recommend them also.
