Help me identify this plant.

Here is a plant that is common up here is SE BC and is probably in northern Idaho and Montana. It grows wild and is often found in yards of summer residents who don’t cut there lawns very much. I can’t seem to find it on the net. And no, to my knowledge it’s not pot.

Ok, here are photos of alfalfa from the web. There is plenty of seeded alfalfa in this mountain valley so I can believe it’s spread to this rural town. Thanks everyone.

By the way, if you don’t want alfalfa growing in your lawn, 2-4-D will turn it yellow, and after mowing down the plant it generally it won’t come back.
