Hello everyone,
Im new to the board...would like to say that this is one of the best forums i have been on for information.

I have a 95 jeep cherokee. I have read alot about using some of the HDEO (15w40 or something like it) in a jeep. Are there any concerns about using HDEO in a gasoline engine over a long peroid of time? Is anyone exclusively on HDEO in their jeep and for how long?

Your insight is appriciated.

Living up north I would be concerned using a 15W40 during the winter months. However I've been using Amsoil 5W30 HDEO in my 2000 Wrangler with no problems. I've had it in about 7-8K miles now.

I use Delo 400 15W40 in my wife's Jeep GC. It comes in four gallon jugs and the Jeep takes six to fill with filter change. In the summer I put all 15W40 but in the winter use four quarts 15W40 with two quarts Chevron Supreme 10W30. This is our 4th Jeep with the 4 Liter motor and it now has 145,000 miles on it with no motor problems as all the previous ones.

Jeep 4.0's like the XW40 oils. In your climate the Rotella T 0W40/5W40 would be a good choice. Amsoil 10W40 might be another good one to look at.

I have been using Delvac 5W-40 in the summer months (mid-June till mid-Sept.) and Esso XD-3 0W-40 (both are HDEO) the rest of the year for around two years now on my 01 TJ and my 99 XJ....both with the 4.0L and they run great.
