Mobil 1 5W-30 and 10W-30 is like the Bermuda triangle of motor oils. All kinds of weird stuff happens to people's engines with that oil in them. Cue in the Weird Science movie music by Oingo Boingo.

My vote goes to Mobil Super 5000. You know you are getting quality with Mobil. Not to say Havoline isn't quality, but I always have confidence in Mobil products.

If it's for your Jeep honestly I'd pick something thicker, like Pennzoil HM or Castrol HM or even Rotella 10w30. It will run fine on the two you mentioned though, I'd personally pick the Mobil of the two.

JMO.

KCJEEP: that's what I did just a bit ago, went to Wal mart and got a MaxLife 5w20 jug for the Focus and at $16.17 got a jug of PHM 10w30

PYB "GOLD" is $16.17 same as PHM oil

Look at the PDS sheet of Havoline high mileage. The 5w-30 and 10w-30 are viscosity 12.0 @100 cSt. Castrol GTX HM 5w/10w-30 list viscosity 11.7 @100 cSt. When PQIA tested Castrol HM 5w-30, viscosity was 12.01 @100 cSt, and Castrol HM was the thickest of all the HM oils included in the test. Havoline HM was not tested.

Anyway, I did not know that the Havoline HM was that thick until I checked their PDS yesterday. The TBN for the HM was listed at 8.5 compared to the black bottle at 7.4, so the premium for the high mileage oil is worth it to me.

Hurray! I did not know Havoline HM was a "thick for grade" HM oil either. The recent trend has been to thin them out and make them Resource Conserving. Great to hear there is another one besides Pennzoil and Castrol.

Mobil 1 HM is also thick for grade but at a completely different price point than the others.

You should run Rotella T5 in the Buick.
