Is it a really bad thing that i haven't changed my oil in such a long time? It is a modified Trans Am, and i only drive it on occasion, so it may only have about 1500 miles since the last time i changed the oil (which was first time changing it after having engine built, fyi). Any help on this subject would be great, i haven't scoured on here too much, but it's hard to find a place that has info on this believe it or not. Thanks all!

It would depend upon operation cycle"is the oil warmed to operating temps" Most likley no problems unless the oil is creamy with condesation,

Built, as in a fresh hone, new pistons, etc? If so, then I'm sure your builder advised you to run a short interval or three, right?

yes, built as in everything except for new crank pretty much. The builder didn't say much, i just went based off of what i felt would be safe, so my first oil change was at 1000, but after that????

I have to say that just hearing this makes me feel a little bit better!

My friend does his Ferrari that way and when we did the cam belts and valve adjust last year everything looked good. His engine doesn't get driven always but the oil gets hot when he does. Todays oils are good. you have to take the car out and run it more often.

If you took it up to temperature routinely, I'd be ok with a 2yr oci. Otherwise, change it!
