Nice little car IMO. Not the greatest looking car, but for the money, could be a huge seller. Has a 2.4 L Camry engine, 163lbs of tq and an optional 200HP supercharged engine. Not bad at all. Much better looking then the boxy Scion.

Nice little car. iI bet it will scoot around well with the camary engine in it. Is Scion a merger company between Toyota and GM?

The price seems right for a small two coupe the size of a Civic but with 160HP and a pretty torquey motor, $16,500 no haggling with 17" Rims, Power Moonroof, AC, Power everything else too.

I really like the Xb. It's the only vehicle I've seen that is comfortable with my girlfriend and I in the front AND back. That back seat is like a limo's.

Those scions are strictly Toyota as someone mentioned before. The two scions already out in the US are Toyotas often on the road in Japan. I think what Toyota did was get the smaller, odd-looking cars (a norm in Japan) and import them here for the younger-buyer market to regain Toyota's sales to younger buyers. Toyota had been criticized for making bland, boring cars that did not appeal to younger buyers. I think this is their response. The tc looks very nice, by the way.

Neat little car. Would make a cool autocrosser/commuter.

$16.5k is a steal. Will probably be hard to find one without $3k of dealer-installed froo-froo on it.

The car would be more fun at $15k, without 200 lbs of sunroof/pw/pl/tilt/cruise.

It is going to be a Celica-GT killer with the TRD super charger package. I have a Camry with the 2AZ-FE 2.4 and for a I4 it is impressive. It is not the power that is so impressive but he power band. The engine has such a flexable and flat HP and Torque curve!!! It revs fast so you never have to worry about lag etc....... It is not like the 4 cylinders I grew up with from the late 70-late 90's!! Unlike Hoda's V-Tec system you get the variable valve timeing at all RPM's not just above 6000 RPMS like Honda's.

P.S. Honda guys please do not take this as being anti Honda in any way!

The article states the looks of this car resembles the looks of other makes and models. I've seen this car before this article and I must agree, the headlights look new BMW-ish and I think the rear curves look Audi-ish. The interior looks great.

Should be interesting! Is this based on the same platform as the latest Corolla and Matrix? The hoodline looks a little tall, like on those cars.

I hope they fix these traits:

1) Please eliminate the massive understeer which plagues virtually all the FWD Toyotas I've driven in the past decade or so. It's severe and not confidence inspiring at all. Other FWD cars aren't this bad. Toyotas need better road feel as well.

2) Make the 4 cyl engine more willing to rev. Sure it has a nice torque band (for a N.A. 4 cyl) from about 1,250 to 2,500 rpm but in the midrange it totally falls flat on its face. Seems to take forever to get to higher rpm.

Sure, you have to rev a Honda VTEC 4, but it's really fun to do so; the engine is eager to reach for the redline. In comparison, the Toyota 4-cyl seems a bit reluctant, no passion there at all...

quadrun1 the 2AZ-FE does not fall flat on it's face you must be mixing this engine up with some other one in the Toyota lineup. The HP and TQ are almost flat from 1000-6000 RPM. My engine pulls strong from launch through 7500+ RPMS! While this engine does not rev as fast as the HO 1.8 used in the Celica it revs fast. It is does not rev as fast as an S2000 either. I can shoot through 6000RPM while most other 4 cylinders are just breaking through 3000-4000 RPM. I have compared this 4 cylinder to my Dads 2.7 in his Tacoma and My 3.8 V6 in the Buick and Moms Tundra V8 on a closed course.

I do wish that they could get the HP up to at least 250HP with the SC but I guess we need to leave room for the tunners to play!

Rent a Camry 03 or 04 with 4 cylinder and manual tras for a day and have fun trying to kill it. Then imagine that engine in a car that weighs probably 30% or 40% less and add a super charger on top of that!! This is going to be a fun car. I just wish they could get the price down a bit more to really make it a hot seller!!!!

Honda i-vtec uses continuously Variable Timing Control (VTC) to adjust camshaft phasing in addition to the regular vtec controlling lift and duration.

The tc needs to go on a diet! 2925 lb is way too much for a small fwd car, hello understeer

This one is awefull!!!!! A 2 year oil could design a better vehical!!!!! That is a box on wheels! The other one is a nice looking car!

I went to the website for the car. I noticed something I could not really believe for a small car. The mileage EPA rating is 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway?????? Why is the mileage so poor on this vehicle, even a Camry gets better fuel economy and its a larger vehicle.

Shorter overall gearing for more fun in the city. The car's not meant to be a mileage champ, just fun to rip around in!
