Happy Halloween - What is your ritual?

I suggest to my gigantic black cat Wolf that he pose in the front window with a light behind him. He has yet to be convinced that he should try it.

Otherwise, I reread some classic short scary stories such as Richard Matheson's "Crickets" or "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet," Stephen King's "The Boogeyman," and M.R. James's "Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad."

Whoah, whoah... she's living in California going to grad school! Sorry if I gave that impression by saying "passed age 12 " instead of "got older than age 12" We did lose a son in infancy back in 1992 before our daughter was even born, so I DO know how horrible that is, but my daughter is very much OK.

Thanks for your concern, though.

Oh good, I read it as StevieC did as well!

Live in a building, so leave a bowl in front of door.

This year no kids (beside mine).

2 years ago they had a blast taking some friends from South Korea on the candy hunt.... Lots of elderly neighbors/grandparents, well prepared...

It was cold here in North Chicago, so they came back home to:

-Hot oven-roasted creamy Pumpkin soup
-Spiders stew (black beans with chicken and potatoes stew)

P.S. some grumpy neighbors mumbled something behind the doors (not children friendly)... really? and they wonder why no kids visit....

My ritual or routine is to denounce these pagan rituals as fruitless endeavors /tounge and cheek rant ova, ova..

You mean Harvest Day? (end of fall/end of usable warm-ish time to gather the harvest)
Or Day of the Dead? (finding time to share some of the harvest with the long-gone-ones and remember them)
