Call Firestone store direct and see if they can install 4 snow tires for $350(or lower) out the door including sales tax. I'm sure they would want to keep the entire sale out of that store. Especially when you start mentioning the other tires you're looking at.

I have W409 iPikes for both cars, sorry had, don't have any for the Charger yet. No complaints here. I think they perform well in the snow, not bad in slush, wear well and aren't really loud.
Not much can come close to a studded tire on ice, unfortunately we aren't allowed to use them here.

Too much time on my hands today. Gotta go make some money now, but I wasted my morning completing and fine-tuning my potential winter tire list. As noted, these are all buy online, (usually with rebates) and install locally, though I will try to get local shops to price match.

Had the iPike W409 tires on a 96 mustang a few years back and they were AWSOME. Maybe not the best for icey hard pack but couldn't be beat in the deep or nasty stuff. Good in rain and dry also.

Based on the conditions you describe, I would recommend looking only at friction/studless tires, and not studdable. My experience (which has been a few years now) was that 'normal' snow tires (studdable) were pretty unimpressive on ice. This was with Dunlops, Goodyears Pirellis and Hakkapeliittas. Since getting through deep snow is rarely the problem for me, even up here in Minneapolis, I don't buy them any more. I only get studless tires. I call them "ice" tires rather than "snow" tires. My biggest problem is being able to stop at intersections where people have been locking their brakes. The quickly turn to ice and can take me by surprise. I've had Green Diamonds, Hakkapeliitta Rs and RSis, Blizzak Revo1s and WS50s, Conti Extreme Winters, (and this year, Blizzak WS70 and Goodyear Ultragrip Ice WRT) and I've found them all to be good, and all to be much better (for me) than the "snow" tires. Even though I have a soft spot in my heart for the Nokans, I can't honestly say that there is one brand/model that is/has been better than the others. I've bought the latest and greatest at times and at other times I've gotten last year's models for a great price. They've all been good--all much better than all seasons. But they aren't miraculous. When it is slippery, they all still slide. These reviews that say "They're awesome!! I couldn't break tracking during a blizzard!" totally mystify my. Not meaning to offend anyone, but...*really*?
Anyway, I strongly advise you to narrow your list down to what meets your needs. Then get the least expensive thing left on the list.

Unless she goes online, Firestone Winterforce are really cheap. Only other thing I can thinks is if she finds an independent Nokian dealer. They usually have stuff cheap that is being end of life'd for a newer product

Tires-easy has pretty good pricing on the Nokians at the moment. My set of 4 235/70R16 Hakka R2s for the Jeep was $646 shipped.
The Hakka R2s don't come in 14" sizes, but in 185/65R14, the Nokian Nordman 4 is $315.20 shipped from Tires Easy for a set of 4. A set of 4 Hakka 7s would be $438.40 shipped. Those are both studded, however (but they're the only Nokian snows I'm seeing in that size).

Still a night and day difference over all-seasons.
They just work. They handle like a standard passenger tire, but grip well on ice and snow.
They have a slightly better ride than the Michelin Defender.
Not the best at really deep snow, but the car has something like 5-6" of ground clearance. It will get through anything that wont rip the bumper off.
She was between jobs the first winter they were on. She delivered a giant paper route for 2 monthes to get bill money. Never got stuck once. It was a rural route with the roads not being plowed and lake effect snow.
Still a night and day difference over all-seasons.

And no: I am not a Hankook fanboy and all else equal prefer to buy USA-made tires. (or almost anything) For those of us on the fringes of the working-/middle-class, with heating season here, who need to count dollars when shopping for tires, (or almost anything) Hankook offers the best quality/value per dollar I've seen. Would not mind being proven wrong--especially with a made-in-USA product.
I could be wrong but, I thought that in CR Tire Test, the H727 performed better than their own, Winter I-Pike in many areas incliding snow/ice traction.

And no: I am not a Hankook fanboy and all else equal prefer to buy USA-made tires. (or almost anything) For those of us on the fringes of the working-/middle-class, with heating season here, who need to count dollars when shopping for tires, (or almost anything) Hankook offers the best quality/value per dollar I've seen. Would not mind being proven wrong--especially with a made-in-USA product.
I could be wrong but, I thought that in CR Tire Test, the H727 performed better than their own, Winter I-Pike in many areas incliding snow/ice traction.
Had x-ice on my '12 mustang and cant say a single bad thing about them. Awsome tire.

On the standard sized wheels, or did you go with a winter wheel set up, and step down to a -1 sizing??

Had the 255/40r19 factory "V6PP" wheels with summer tires and picked up a set of factory base model 17s for 225/60r17 snows.
