What is everybody's favorite wood handle finish? I've been using boiled linseed oil for the past couple years, ever since I became cognizant of handle finishing. Seems to work well, and is well proven. Wondering if its worth topping with a beeswax type product also? On that note, has anybody used Obenauf's HDLP on wood? Good, bad, or indifferent?

I once painted all the (garden tools) handles a RED color.
But, now I like more the look of Ash or Hickory, especially if the Factory used a dark stain on them.

One thing I do after using garden tools, I clean all the mud off them.
Every Fall, I spray-paint the working end with Satin Black.
Just because there used to dig mud, there like any other tool ...... you take care of them.

When we had a lot of wood handle tools we painted the working end and the top end with red paint to make it easier to find them and to add more protection to the working end. Once the paint was dry we used linseed oil about once a year.

I wouldn’t use wax.
