Daughter has been non stop singing "Hamilton" the musical from front to back...and the story finally started to sink in.

Jekyll Island....

It's actually a pretty good soundtrack, and very cleverly assembled, that even while driving the story fits together and is followable...reminds me of Chess, but more followable as musical.

We'll see it when it's in Oz

It does that...ceases becoming noise at some stage.

They DID work out that it should be quietened come reverse parking time fairly quickly.

Hamilton was a towering figure in the early USA despite never being president or a top general in wartime.
I read a book on the early economy of the USA some time ago and it argued that Hamilton was a tremendous force in the early economy largely because he felt all citizens should be active in a market-based economy, even if they had to be dragged in kicking and screaming...many people in the colonies and early states basically lived at a subsistence level, producing very small surpluses to buy or barter for the very few things they could not provide for themselves and dealing with money very rarely. Hamilton wanted to use taxation in part to force these people to generate larger surpluses and participate in the markets to raise money to pay their taxes. This is only a small part of his overall vision, but many people truly hated Hamilton and his ilk because their thinking forced major changes in their way of life.

If it at all fits your budget, I highly recommend seeing Hamilton.
I thought it silly when reviews called it, "Life changing."
I don't think that anymore.

"One more time..."

"Of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics the greatest number have begun their career, by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing Demagogues, and ending Tyrants." - Federalist 1. Hamilton was an interesting figure, he took much inspiration from the Roman Republic and its governmental structures along with the circumstances, decisions and personalities that led to its decline and fall. Rather ironic, as the modern US suffers from many of the same problems that ultimately allowed men like the Graccahi, Marius, Sulla and later Caesar to bring down the republic.

Hamilton wished for an american-style monarchy along with a large central govt and a central bank. A true scoundrel when his cronies got wind of a looming debt pay off and subsequently bought War Bonds at less then face value only to have the Federal Govt pay them off at full value.

IMO the play was overrated. Save your AUS$.

I am sure plenty of people cheered after Hamilton was shot by Burr....not that many of the other giants of the time didn't have plenty of warts and secrets!
