I was at a car parts store today and I spotted a quart bottle of this stuff. I was curious so I read the label. It says to dump the stuff into the crankcase of a cold engine, and then start it and let the engine idle for 5 minutes, without driving the car. At the end of the 5 minute idle, shut down and change oil and filter. It also mentions that it may be necessary, on high mileage cars, to pull the oil pan and clean it out and clean the oil pickup screen.

I was interested until I read the part about pulling the pan, what a nightmare.

Anybody ever try that stuff? It's supposed to clean out sludge, varnish, etc...

The risk is that the fast-flush product will loosen big chunks of sludge. That will break loose and plug the oil pickup screen or oil passages.

I have also been told it could ruin bearings due to lack of lubrication. That is what 2 mechanics told me after using it on my Mazda truck. Oh, well. I traded it last year!

I used it and ended up with a quieter engine that burned less oil. I purposely ignored the directions trying to cause some of the problems that hearsay and imagination created.

Save your money.
I use Diesel fuel.
Have for many years.
Let engine idel till it's warmed up.
About twenty minuets.
Drop the drain plug and your done.

Here's what I do on an engine I know is in BAD shape:

Drop pan and make sure pickup is free and clear. Also, remove and solid material.

Once running, remove valve covers and make sure oil is getting to top-end.

Shut-off and refil with a mineral 15w40 HDEO.

I've never used an internal engine cleaner product...
