Does anyone use BG EPR as a maintenance item?

I know that the overall mantra around these parts is "slow and easy" a la VRP or HPL EC when it comes to cleaners, but given that BG EPR only flows with the engine in park (or at least that is what it instructs) does anyone use it as a maintenance item even without consumption? Every 50k or 100k, perhaps just to clean any varnish out or hit any gunk on the rings before they become a problem?

Given the age and miles on my Civic (2012, 131k miles), I am juggling with whether to run a can through her before the next oil change. I have an extra can left over from fixing the consumption on my Camry so the urge to do something with it is there.

I am just curious if others have done something similar or if "it ain't broke, don't fix it" is the way to go.

Our fleet mechanic at my old job ran it through every vehicle we had when doing oil changes. Most of the fleet had 300k + on them before they would replace them. Helped or hurt, who knows. I wouldn't be opposed myself to use it. If trying to stave off stuck rings, I'd definitely use it if I had it one the shelf.

I have a truck that sits a lot but came from a high mileage job. It's a 2014 2500HD with 227k miles. It suddenly started having some issues so I did a good engine flush, making sure to really let the engine get to temp. I actually let it get to temp, pour in the EPR (two cans in the 6L of oil) then drive it the 12 miles to get it changed. Engine absolutely cleaned up and runs better. I just bought it on ebay as a 6 pack for like $100. I'll probably use it on my boat motor that sits most the year as well when I go to do it's change. Works well. Don't know if it's worth the price after reading how many people just pour diesel in and let it idle.

I used it in 3 vehicles to try and clean. None of the cars had issues of burning prior, 2 were higher mileage. Friend who is VW mechanic said they use it for the oil burners that come, I think he said part of TSB. He said 1500-2000 rpm for 20 minutes. I know it smells like crazy and afterward my oil stayed cleaner longer. Still no burning issues from any of them and all run great.

Now whether that helped loosen stuff up who knows. I do know that the HPL EC30 runs a year later put a lot of carbon into my filters. I didn't see that in them when cut open from the EPR. I wasn't really expecting much either since my motors looked clean (except the baffle plate in CRV).

Now at $15 per can it's the same price as EC30 so I can just do an EC30 for a full OCI when I think about the flush knowing what that did.

Do I think the EPR has a purpose and works, yes. Some things maybe need a bit more solvent based to help out like doing Berryman's piston soak. I have taken my cars to my friend for service, one of few that I do. I trust what he says and does. I have 2 cans on my shelf, trying to decide where and when. Really want to try in the CRV with the baffle plate again but also want to see how long before HPL takes to get rid of the stuff with just 1qt HPL PCMO with whatever oil to reduce my stash.
