Great pics of the old Packard plant.

That was interesting reminds me of the old Studebaker plant in Hamilton. They had a little car show and some of the original works that are still around showed up. They are tearing the plant down to make room for a new industrial park.We lived just a couple of blocks away from the plant and on Sundays we would go over to the parking lot and look at the new Hawks

Outstanding find, thanks for the pics!
I have a customer across from the old GM Janesville WI plant, amazing to see it completely silent. I can close my eyes and imagine though how it was......

Love comparison shots like that.
As for graffiti, just goes to show that the "kids" of years later could care less about the past history of this country or our car culture. These are the same kids who love their Hondas and VWs and shun anything American(except spray paint). Many decades ago this wasnt the case (1950s...)and seemingly they had other things on their minds than tagging abandoned property that isnt theirs, thinking nobody cares and they will never get in trouble for it.Ask any kid today about Packard or Studebaker, and they will ask if thats a new Korean carline....

thanks for the pics. I would agree with others that it is a shame what has happened to the buildings. people have no respect for property that does not belong to them.

I wonder if Fortress America could actually work.

Competing on the World stage against Communism, slave labour, and countries that don't value their women and children that pump out cheap goods.

If the USA focused solely on mending its own wounds and employing it's own people, maybe we'd have stuff to sell.

Sure, you can cry that protectionism caused the Great Depression to get deeper, but we should also look at how vast the USA and Canada is, and pump out goods and babies and try to tweak a system that works for us.

As a Canadian, I would love to see Detroit kick some butt again.

(And would LOVE for you guys to finally have a RoboCop monument!!!)

Peace and Love,

-Northern Brother

Edit: Thanks guys now I'm all teary eyed

So where are you going to end those people? To be your neighbors?

Gentrification of parts of NYC just caused parts of PA to go down the tubes. Slobby, worthless people will remain the same. Its dealing with THEM that needs to be figured out.

What I find a real pee off is the focus on the World stage.

I must be Amish or something, but if we can't run another country then we definately can't fix or help in any way.

We can only focus on N.A., everyone else wants us dead.

JH, as long as they stay away from me... don't bust windows or steal my stuff I don't care... Those type of people seem to be like the "guy" in my other thread. Send them to Afganastan I don't care.. or if they beat, rape or rob people they should be on the front lines... and made the US a safer place to live

Many people say Detroit is the rectum of the USA. After seeing videos on YouTube of the slums in Detroit... I would have to agree.

So much for hope and change in Detroit.

Are you referring to Detroit as a city, or the Lions?

Who else saw their most recent last-minute foibles today?...

As goes Detroit so too will go the rest of the major US cities eventually, the country is bankrupt and has enormous debt as well, no way we can ever dig out if this.

Folks in the next 20 years the ENTIRE USA will declare bankruptcy.

I agree with the other poster, stock up on heavy weaponry (not just hand guns) food, water, ect.

It's going to be a jungle in this country very soon.

I was working at Chrysler Canada in Windsor, Ontario (across the river from Detroit) in 1967 when the riots were going on.

It was a very scary sight, I was glad the river was there to isolate the violence from the Canadian side.

it's not a very wide river ......... I wish you guys the best with all your problems.
