I'm definitely feeling old now but this car has so much tech. Maybe you guys are used to all this stuff but i'm not. I"ve always owned eco box sedans. Wireless apple carplay was already amazing to me. I really liked the cooled seats and the kids loved having the rear AC on blast and pano roof. They loved watching the 3rd row seat fold up and down via button.

It was a 2023 Model with a check engine light at 10k miles. It did go away tho after a few key cycles.

It was the Escalade with the 600 emblem on the back. I assume 600hp and boy did that car get up and go. All blacked out trim. Huge digital dash and a HUD for speed. The brakes are another story. While it did stop the car with no issues, i never felt confident about it. Averaged 13-14mpg while in L.A. area and Anaheim area.

There was something annoying with the car mic, it made this echo so the people all the way back can hear the driver. Couldn't figure how to turn that thing off. There rear view "mirror" is a camera, it was zooomed in. A few times looking at the rear view i thought the car was gonna rear end us.

One that i'm not used to and loved was the parking sensors, cameras setup as well as my seat vibrates when i'm close to something. I think without that tech, i would have hit a few things. Is this all standard now? I couldn't find out how to activate the camera but once i got closed to something it automatically turned on. Anyone know the name of this tech? I tried looking up and i got 360 view and birds eye.

Overall i hated the truck at first due to the tech and size but loved it at the end. We are looking to upgrade to a bigger sized vehicle, this checks off the power and tech side of things. We have a family of 6.

Would a stripped down version of this be just a Tahoe?

Surburban or Yukon XL.

I have the refreshed 2021 esv. The 600 means It's supposed to produce 600nm of torque although they're rounding down because 460 lb ft is actually 623nm? It's completely stupid and to this day I still have no real clue what Cadillac tried to do here. The online consensus is that they tried to be more European as they use 3 digit numbers a lot and apparently that's fancy? it comes off as dumb and cringe to me frankly. I also never used that rear loudener speaker system thing or whatever it's even called where you're supposed to be heard more easily back there. There's some button on the top but I don't know which one.

Honestly I don't care for this vehicle that much. I didn't bother to check the suburban or Yukon and did so afterwards and all in all I would have been more than happy with the suburban LT with the first of 3 luxury packages, the one that's about 2k. That has everything I want and none of the fluff I've never used in my almost 4 years of owning this thing. The base LS isn't bad but it's a tad sparse but it's less expensive. Funny enough the Tahoe and suburban LS with the front bench seat and no center console is actually the most comfortable because the center console is still a bit too large and my leg hurts a bit when I have to rest it on the wall. Without the center console you have more legroom. The prior gen was really cramped I hated it and I'm not a big guy either. I wear a 38 so I'm not that wide. All in all I'm still disappointed in these new gm trucks. It's less bad than the prior generation escalade which I briefly had and absolutely hated. The brakes are fine they're just not stiff to press which i guess makes people think they're weak. The rotors are larger on the escalade compared to the others I believe.

As i mentioned, the brakes worked but it didn't make me feel good about them. Maybe cause i'm driving a tank and it feels that way to slow down or maybe its designed that way. The truck stopped no problem but every time i had to come to a complete stop from speed on the highway, i'm a little "cross my fingers and hope i stop in time"

I live in the Rust Belt so these are don't last much longer than 10 years here before everything on the understand gets killed with rust like evap canisters and suspension parts.

We have a 2024 Yukon XL and love it for our use. There aren’t a lot of options for a family of 6 and cargo. I think the Suburban and Yukon XL will suit you fine as they have most all of the same options at a reduced price.

Oh trust me she stops when you stomp it. Had only one instance and hopefully the last where I had to do that because some clown car randomly tried to get out of the emergency lane without checking their mirrors and without turning the hazards off and putting the left turn signal on like you're supposed to if you want to merge back in. And no I couldn't switch to the left when I saw that car before it merged back in. It was 1pm on a tuesday or wednesday so there was a lot of traffic with cars right to my left. The 60-0 is only 121 ft.

Get a Tahoe or Burb instead 😉

Suburban LS or LT would be my choice If i didn't feel like blowing that much on an escalade given that 4 years after I bought mine and with a discount right before the covid msrp madness happened these have gone up a lot msrp wise and dealers won't haggle anymore. It was barely worth it back then but now not anymore, the tahoe has notably less space for an inconsequential discount. MPG is the same for both.

We have an 05 Yukon XL and it hauls our family just fine but the electrical gremlins are many. We were on a vacation in Destin and it decided that I needed to be in 4 wd low. A mechanic in Destin named Tony, thank you told me how to clear that. The AC is great in back but not so good in the front. The electric seat heater randomly turns itself on which makes the AC much worse and the dashboard instrument lights drop off from poor solder joints. Other than all that it does carry all of us and our vacation stuff and gets a calculated 18.2 mpg. The vehicle has 216K on it now and still uses no oil or water. Freon, well thats another story. My son uses wood to heat so the Yukon tows the trailer with 2 ricks of wood about 3 times in winter and the 4 wd makes sure we get the load where its needed. They rust out really bad around here. At the price of a new one its no bargain.

My wife drives an Escalade Platinum ESV and loves it. It’s got 48K on it and we haven’t had one problem with it. Comfortable cruiser. I’d rather drive my 911 though.

OP: If you really do plan on buying a newer large Ute, don't forget to test out the new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer from Jeep.

The inline-6 turbo "Hurricane" engine can pump out 420hp and 486lb-ft of torque, and the braking is superb compared to other big utes.

My airport Limo’s are the entry level. Real gauges etc. Funny one is the HVAC = knobs again - yet the digital setting is in the knob.
I actually like it better than ours - but wife wanted this one with slim pickings on the lot …

The Wagoneer gets the 410 HP version and the Grand Wagoneer gets the high output 510 HP with 500 FTLBS of torque. New engine so might want to wait a year or two: same dual turbo I6 in the 1500 RAM.

Everybody knows my involvement with the GM large SUV's so I won't bore you with that! :D but I will say the best bang for the buck with the T1 SUVs is the Tahoe (or Suburban) RST package. You get a lot for your money and none of the stuff you probably don't want. The next best value is the Z71 if you like more off road capability.
