Just looking at new issue ..they tested 69 different tires---

All Season Tires
In "S" or "T" rated tires ...the top scorer was--Michelin HydroEdge

In "H" rating....Michelin Primacy MXV4 is tops

In "V" rating....Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S is first

and winter tires...Michelin X-Ice Xl2

A Grand Slam for the Michelin Man

I have 50,000 miles on my HydroEdge. My experience is Michelin tires just get sweeter with the miles. Balance well, still getting good traction. I think I will just get another set when these wear out.

Probably consumer reports or something like that. I do like michelin tires, the LTX M/S tires on our expedition are simply fantastic. I also like my goodyear Assurance Tripletreds too, but the french-based Michelin definitely knows how to make a good tire.

It is consumer reports. Although they ranked the Hydroedge #1, they did show a half/black rating for snow traction. You have to read into their ratings sometimes.

Oh, just CR.....

Good to know since I have them on the front of my blazer and will probably get some backs soon. No issues with them so far.

Awesome. Just recently put a set of Hydroedges on my mom's Camry. After rebates it was under $290 for 4 tires iirc. Now I'm hoping they get at least 70k miles before they need to replaced.

I could see them getting lower rating on snow. I don't tend to use them in snow much. But this spring we were getting flash floods of 5 to 7 inches per hour. These tires tend to cut through water like butter. I think mine will at least 70,000 miles. They are wearing well.

Duh?

People take CR Results way too serious. For example on car reliability . . . if you compare JD Power vs. CR there results vary greatly.

Nevertheless, Michelin makes excellent tires but in my opinion aren't worth the premium prices when you can get comparable tires for much cheaper.

Actually, I had no problems w/ mine. They lasted over 52K & had excellent wet & dry handling characteristics.

Nevertheless, there's a lot of group think in the Subaru Community pertaining the Ole RE92A.

I just replaced my Chinese wobblers (aka Kumhos) with HydroEdges. I'm not so concerned about snow traction since it's pretty rare that I'm actually driving on snow here in Chicago... it's more usually ice that causes problems, and I don't think any all season tire is good on that. Luckily I don't think there is a salt shortage this year.

I kinda wish someone would do a long-term comparison of tires. My Kumhos were ok for 20,000 miles and then basically fell apart (belt shifts and out of round). I personally will (and did) pay more for a tire that will (hopefully) age more gracefully.

Last April, I replaced the el cheapo OEM V rated Bridgestone Turanzas on my 09 CamryV6 that wore out before 15,000 miles with the top H rated Michelin Primacy MXV4 with 60,000 mile warranty. The improvement in cornering and handling was unexpectedly unbelievable.

Putting a set of Primacys on wife's 02 ES300 tomorrow. $600 for 4 - NTB price matched Costco.

Put a set of the same on my '99 Accord recently.
I am very happy with them.
These replaced the second set of tires, which were the same model as the OEM Michelins.
You pay a little more for Michelins, but I think cost per mile comes out about the same as it would for a cheaper tire, regardless of treadwear rating.
You do get what you pay for.
